When the wife informed me she was going to ride with me at times this year, I went with the TT setup:

The "Boss" has a different idea when it comes to packing lite. 41 inches wide with the boxes on. I'll look into a tank bag for my stuff. :)

What capacities are your TT's? Not the 31/38 is it?

After 30 years, I have found if the Boss is happy, I will be too. If I ride solo, I'll pull the bags and take my GL.

I got my Jesse Odyssey IIs on Friday.

Anyone have the instalation instructions handy? I didn't get any with them and I want to double check everything went where it is supposed to go. I have a bracket that I can't figure out where it goes.

Joe (or others with Holan), My plan is to ride in and take the tools to install. Not much of a vehicle person. Any advice on must take tools beyond the typical screwdriver/socket/hex assortment. Should I remove the OEM grab rails ahead of time but leave the bolts in?

I have a bunch of bubble wrap to use for ground cloth to avoid scratches.

Thanks
Here is what you need....

socket set with extensions
wrench set (i believe an 8 and a 10 is all thats used)
allen set

My advice for the install is this. Remove the grab rails but take the big bolts with you as you use them to hold the pannier in place. Get the right side rack and place the big grab rail bolt through the two upper holes. The order for this assembly on both sides is this....Bolt with washer slide through the pannier rack hole and then place the huge nut included with the kit on the inside and then screw into the bike. I would do this on both sides so the racks are being held up by the top two bolts. Then use the allen key bolt with washers and nut for the bar that goes around the back of the bike. To get this part installed you need to remove the license plate and the metal mounting bracket. This part is also a directional part meaning it can only be installed one direction. If you look at it you will see a long side and a short side. The long side is for the exhaust side and the short side is for the non-exhaust side. After that is held in place but still loose I would use the only bolt and washers left to attach the down bar to the passenger peg hole. I would leave everything loose and mainly hand tight until you have the whole pannier rack on the bike. Then I would tighten each piece 1 by 1 a little at a time until the rack is tight.

I hope that makes sense...

Very good news Joe and thanks for the install tips...will print and take it with me. When I get there and see them in person I'm going to give themb a big thumbs up for resolving your issue. That makes up for alot of the wait hassles!

Happy Trails with Aerostich Tail Bag.

Panniers are water tight. I tested them a few times. ::)
MotoFiz bag isn't. But everything inside is in an overboard bag.
For 2 up and camping, I add 1 sleeping bag on top of each pannier, and the tent bag across the top of the MotoFizz.

Micatech "Pilot" cases! I'm doing some pre-production beta testing on this set-up. If no major tweeks are needed they should be ready by early summer. 104 liters in the sidecases,38.75 inches wide.

Those are huge, and they look it! Nice job by them of getting a close fit and coming up with a mounting system that looks ok when they're off the bike. That's one thing I don't like about the Jesses, the mounts are rather obtrusive.

They look wider in the pics than in person and are narrower than my Barkbusters. I do a fair amount of 2-up and SWMBO has to have her "stuff". Maybe I'll get some "WIDE LOAD" stickers :D

I like the way the cases mount to the bike. It's too bad my V2 cases can't use that mounting system. The pilots do look large, but for two up I'm sure you could use the room.

Finally got them finished. An enjoyable project to build, but very time consuming. Think I'll just buy the Holans next time. :D
Just need to drill and tap the cargo plate for the aux. fuel container and on to the shake down rides to test them out.
