Just over one year old, 22,500 miles, and I've just had a headlight bulb blow. Should I chop it in for another bike as this blown bulb is worrying me that the whole thing is now going to fall to pieces? :)

I have replaced my headlights more than once. First time for brighter bulbs. Second time was when my front suspension was set too tight and I broke both bulbs riding rough highways. Since then I have adjusted the front suspension and replaced the headlights with brighter bulbs.

Has it had the headlight light wiring loom recall done? Might be worthwhile checking that out, but otherwise 22k and just a bulb does seem a little extreme, I would ride that sucker right into a Hardly dealership and do a swap, sharpish ::008::

Do check the harness, wiggle the connector. Before I replaced the harness I had to wiggle the right harness almost every start up.
The GS 'everybody' is raving about now...

Don't listen to them, this is just like when the ashtray in your car gets full, time to buy a new car/bike.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate luck. You seem like a nice guy. I'll give you $300 for the bike so that it's not a complete loss for you. Sure, it's more than the bike is worth now, but it makes me feel good to do nice things for others.

I think you're right, I need to scrap it, not only have I had to replace a bulb, but its been through three pairs of tyres and I've had to change the oil four times.

I didn't realize all that. I'll still give you $200.

Let me say this about headlamp bulbs. I had one burn out at night on the freeway. Figured I'd change both bulbs next chance. Well, 5 miles later, hit a rough spot and something in the burned out bulb collapsed, had nice blue flash, and took out the 20A fuse (i.e. no headlamps at 75mph). Thank God for the PIAA 530 driving lights.

I own a 1993 Chevy S10 and a 1993 Honda Accord both equipped with unused ash trays.

Ghost ride it right off a cliff, take the scraps and drop them off on Yamaha's door step. We can not put up with this kind of shotty craftsmanship :)-

On a more serious note, I had both my headlight bulbs blow at once. Day trip for work, so I ran with my Krista's on.

Here's the dilemma: 20A headlight fuse is blown too. I replaced the fuse and it immediately blows when I start the bike (still have the two blown bulbs installed).

Anyone think the blown bulbs could cause the fuse to blow??? Next step is to replace both bulbs, but I'm wondering if I should be searching for a short somewhere.

Wiring harness recall was completed by the dealer about 8,000 miles ago.
