BTW, the Scorpion Stinger SSTX20CH-FP cranked the ST over fine this morning at 29 degrees. Cranked it over faster at 29 degrees than the OE Yuasa did when it was brand new in warm weather. Should be getting down into the middling to high teens by Sunday/Monday so I should know for sure if this Li Iron will work for me, the bike and for where I live.

Not a shoria but this earth x has done 2+ years and about 70,000 km trouble free. Its the compact case size which is the same dimensions as the original ytz12s

I see you are from Canada, what's the coldest the EarthX has started your bike? What temp does it really start to grunt it out and slow down to the point where you start to get worried or have to crank it a time or two to get some heat into it?

Being march when I installed it the coldest temp. that was tried was just at freezing ( frost on the seat) and it started. Although it did crank over a little slower than the agm that was in it.
At the slightly warmer end of the temp range, let's say above 50f it turns the engine over a little quicker than the agm which is confirmed by the slightly higher voltage reading on my acc.voltmeter.
According to earth x they recommend the etx18c which is the same compact case size as the etx24c it's just the next model down. I opted for etx24c to try and avoid the "turn on acc. and wait to start" situation. So far so good.
Cranking the Tenere engine over without it starting right away could lead to a possible flooded or hard start situation which has been reported by others, but so far I haven't experienced in my 5 years of ownership.

I have a 12 that has had a couple of hard starts over the years and I will say the Shoria seems to get stronger as it cranks. The first time I had the hard start I almost gave up as the battery was dying but it did start. Second time no problem WFO until she snorts. A lot less cranking. The summer before last I got the Shoria. I had read some good and bad reviews. The weight difference is amazing and
cranking ability seems better to me.
The last hard start came after a 5000mi trip the bike ran perfect. After we got back I left it parked out side the barn so I could wash it. I didn't get around to washing it but I did start it and drove it into the barn, maybe ran for 10 seconds. I think they may have caused my last hard start. Anyway I had wondered how Shoria would do in this situation and since I was at home I did some cranking with closed throttle trying to run the battery down a bit, 15 seconds. Then went to fully open and started cranking again and the starter seemed to be turning faster after another 20 seconds or so it was running. So far so good. I do have a friend with one in his snowmobile and his electric start wont work in the morning if its below 20f. once warmed up all is good. The charger is special as well and not cheap.

I've never had a problem starting the Tenere in cold weather. With the original YTZ12S I started it many times below 10F to ride to work. I had 2 of the hard start problems, and both were during warm weather surprisingly. These new Lithiums sound pretty good, but I still stay old school that I trust. I have a GL1800 that still has the original Yuasa battery 9yrs old, never on a tender, and it still works fine.

We get some cold temps where I live here in AZ. When below freezing I'd simply turn my key to "On" position then go back in the house and get suited up. The 5-7 min it took me to get suited up then out to the bike the battery had 'warmed' up enough that the engine would crank over like it was 70F.

Just tried out the Scorpion Stinger in 19 degree weather . I cranked a bit slower but not really any slower than the Yuasa has done several times during the time I've owned it. Did not start the first attempt {3-5 seconds or so} which I did with no warm up what-so-ever to try to get a apples to apples comparison with the Yuasa I had. The second attempt immediately afterwards {maybe 3-5 seconds wait the hit the starter} resulted in a start once I went full throttle as I could smell raw fuel and thought it might be trying to flood. Revved it slightly a time or two to clear it's throat {it did seem to have been wanting to flood or at least it was rich as hell} and shut it off. I waited maybe 10-20 seconds, hit the starter and it started on the first few starter revolutions. That time I let it run about 30 seconds as I didn't really want to warm it up. I think it might get a smidge colder later {weather bug is predicting low teens/high single digits at around 6-8am} and I'll try it as low as it can get.

This was pretty much a worst case scenario event as I did not charge the battery before putting it in {it did show full charge on the simple little charge indicator it has}. Once in, I started it to make sure it would start and to get an idea of how fast it cranked over the starter. That was with temps in the low 50s, upper 40s if memory serves. I rode it to my shed literally 50yrds away and parked it. That was last Monday I think. Have not touched it since then. If it will start reliably in the teens {did as good or better than my Yuasa over the time I had it} that's about as cold as it gets around these parts and I'm confident enough in it to forget about it. Pretty much the same experience I had with the XR650L, the FJR1300 and the DL650 once I learned to ignore what the manufacturers recommend and just stuff the largest bugger I could get in.

{UPDATE}
Just tried it again 4hrs later at 17 degrees {ain't gonna get no single digits for sure} and it started right up. I'm confident a daily driven Tenere running this battery would be fine in most any temps you would want to ride in. At most it would require a few jabs at the starter to warm the battery up.

I think there is only one SSTX20CH-FP. Not sure about the reference to the quad terminal, prolly just advertising mumbo jumbo.
