you mean valve check right? when I hear valve job i think the valves need to come out and regrind the seats. Just checking, and I think I know what you are meaning. How many miles on the bike? The first valve check inspection isn't due until 24k miles. I don't know of any dealers down in Oregon to assist you with this.

Is there a dealer in Oregon that anyone would trust to do a valve job on their ST?
Sure. State of Jefferson would indicate you're on the Southern end though, so shops I could recommend in Portland area might not be of much help.

Beaverton Honda-Yamaha-Suzuki (a.k.a. Bend over Bob's) has done great work for me in the past, including valve check/adjustments on my FJR. The shim under bucket design of the Super Ten is no different.

BEAVERTON YAMAHA

Fax: 503-684-5084

Another good shop that used to have 5 star rated techs and has done good work for me under previous names:
YAMAHA SPORTS PLAZA
22455 NE HALSEY ST

Phone: 503-669-2000
Fax: 503-512-8441

I've never used this shop for service work, but got a good vibe when dropping in while traveling.

FLORENCE YAMAHA
2130 HIGHWAY 126
FLORENCE, OR 97439-9629 122.99 mi.

Phone: 541-997-1157
Fax: 541-997-5711
Email: florenceyamaha@gmail.comFAIRVIEW, OR 97024-2644

I can say don't go to:
POWER YAMAHA
333 SW SUBLIMITY BLVD
SUBLIMITY, OR 97385-9696

They crimped the valve cover gasket, then tried to fix it with RTV and refused to acknowledge they screwed it up when it continued to leak oil. I ended up having Beaverton Honda/Yamaha re-do their work.

Sorry Jeff about the semantics......you are correct......"valve adjustment" guess I got ahead of myself.
Thanks Eric.......I purchased my bike in North Bend/Coos Yamaha.....which is just a very small.....but friendly,,,bike dirt bike ATV market and service. I am not sure I would want them opening up anything else although it may be my mistake expressing such fast judgement. Everyone I know who uses them for service is a "thumper" owner. ...Sublimity left me cold and unsure whether they were just selling bikes or into being a good dealership. I am a good year from my valve "job" so I have time to talk to shops....thanks for your extensive run down....Iam printing it off for reference.

I've wandered thru Coos Bay more than a few times. The only thing I remember stopping for, moto wise, was my riding companion picking up a Vista Cruise while we were heading down the coast on a trip to NorCal.

Realistically, any tech that's worked on modern sport bikes should be fine. The shim under bucket design of the S10 is pretty common and you may not even need re-shimming. I did on mine, but I wanted until 49k to have the first valve check done. My FJR didn't need re-shimming until 98k, so I wasn't too concerned about waiting.

You have time to sort it out, but it would be kind of a pain to do a road trip just to get the valves checked/adjusted. Note that it's common for them to re-use the valve cover gasket, so if they pinch it, they usually won't have a spare. Normally the gasket is ok for re-use, but I'll be specifying that they replace it next time I get mine checked at ~78k. Hmm, that's going to happen before August for me, (when I'm heading to AK). :( Better plan that into the budget.

I live in Roseburg on the "5" and it is 90 miles anywhere....every bike I have owned in the past 7 years has been serviced in Coos, Medford, Eugene or Portland........Valve adjustments are overnighters no matter what so not a big deal whether I ride 90 miles to Eugene or 360 to Seattle

If you open it up to an over night trip, consider Desert Valley in Prosser WA. These guys work on a lot of FJR's and should have the experience to perform a S10 valve check. Good folks and worthy of support.
