I didn't know we were having this event on Labor Day.

Too many people and too much traffic.
I'm not so sure about Labor Day either. Does the KOA require 3 nights all the time?

The way I read it, it was just for something like three holiday weekends.

That's ok. Nobody set a date. I don't get weekends off normally, I've got that weekend off and I'm going ridin'. Heck, depending on the WX I may wind up at Usal Beach on the Lost Coast.

Don, I did not know there was a Usal Beach but it looks like a neat beach. I am sure you have ridden Knoxville Road but have you ridden Leesville Road? I have not but want to. I rode (early June 2011) Mendocino Pass but did not know how I got there and the weather on the mountain was wet with snow pack and deep ruts. Branscomb Road is a hoot. Usal Road is high on my list.

To and from Fort Bragg is boring compared to Branscomb Road, Laytonville to Hwy 1. Hwy 162 over Mendocino Pass to Laytonville (101) would be dirt and gravel fun this time of the year. Might do it the second week of September. Plan on riding Rocky Creek Bridge before they begin construction after Labor Day weekend. Also ride the new bridge and Rock Slide cover.

Well, I tore a muscle in the area of my left knee last week, no camping for me this weekend. Nobody has posted that they're riding this weekend?

Wednesday I rode to Salinas > Carmel Valley > Point Lobos > Big Sur > Ragged Point > Cambria > Santa Rosa Creek > 46 > Paso Robles. The coast was beautiful. Cool at times and warm at times.

Thursday I rode River Rd > Vineyard Canyon Rd > Parkfield > Parkfield Grade > 198 > Coalinga > Los Gatos Road > Coalinga Road > 25 > Tres Pinos > 152 > 165 > 99. Beautiful and fun roads. Friggin HOT.

http://goo.gl/maps/3kCuU Last night I made a map a ride a bunch of us rode a couple years ago. We met others at the Dry Creek General Store in the morning. Stopped somewhere on Geyers Road. Stopped in Boonville and Point Arena (Zen House). Stopped at Stewarts Point Store and somewhere on Tin Barn Road. Ate lunch at Northwood Golf Club. Very fun ride.

Just looped out along 160 up to Sac and back down 5. Saw one bike moving along the river, 2 parked in Isleton, 2 more at the Freeport Inn, and no traffic anywhere. I'm thinking every body stays home on Holiday weekends because "all the crazies are out".

I have never ridden 26 or the surrounding roads east of 49. What do you know of the area?

26 ends at 88 in Pioneer. Great run from Moke Hill and up the hill. Passes through a couple little towns. I usually start on it at Valley Springs. It's actually Poloma Rd, but it's more fun. Gwin Mine/Middle Bar is a pretty little side track. A person can do some serious wandering around up there. Volcano used to have a small eatery. Not much in Fiddletown any more. We can go get lost around the Omo Ranch/ Fairplay area. Having 200 + miles in a tank is a great thing.
Starting from Lodi would work good. Ends up with you pretty close to Sac again.

Well, it seems this isn't going to happen.

Anyway, I'll be up in the area next week staying in Elk.

The 11th? What'cha got in mind? Bridgeport popped into my mind today. Parkfield is someplace I've wanted to go. You pick a direction, it will be somewhere I probably haven't been. I haven't done much south of Manteca.

I think I mis-spoke. :-[ Going to be up in the Mendocino Coast area. It is probably too far for a day ride from the valley.
