Howdy All,

Ollie and I are riding down to the Smokies this Fri, returning Sun

Planning on camping at Iron Horse Lodge both nights spending Saturday spinning around the Blue Ridge Pkwy, down to Brevard the Gorges and back up into the west side of the Mtns.

We'll arrive via Cherontahala Skyway fri evening (with a stop at Deal's Gap) and leave Sun am via the Dragon riding two lanes back home to Louisville.

Anyone who is able is to join us, please do...we're planning on dinner and b'fast at the Iron Horse, plus bringing my stove just in case.

If any of you can't make it this weekend, The V strom Rally is just around the corner. October 13-16 at Ironhorse. I'll post another thread.

Sounds like a great ride Anthony. I was down that way last October and again in May. Hard not to find a nice road in that area. Having done the Cherahola several times I did the River Rd. and the "gravelhola" over to Robbinsville. Stop by Tellico MC Outfitters for more info. Did Deals Gap twice so I never have to do that again. I do need to ride Parsons Branch to 129 sometime though.

Ride safe guys!

Ride Wayah Road south of Robbinsville along Nantahala Lake. Then follow 64 to Franklin and 64/28 again south of Franklin to see several Water Falls from the road. You will not regret this ride.
When you get back I would like to ride over and check out your bags is that's ok.
Regards
Scooper

Oh yeah, did that route on my last trip.... I only passed one car between 74 and 64.

Ollie hasn't been up there yet; He's got to do the Dragon at least once (I'm with you...once was enough), plus, I was going to take him on the Blue Ridge as far as the Brevard turnoff and down to the Gorges (where I've not yet been).

Scooper, Absolutely fine showing you the side cases; I like everything about them so I'm happy to push more business to Roger.

i'll be at the ironhorse lodge friday-sunday as well. heading down for the MTF's Founders Feast. can't remember which spot i'm in, but if you see a blue tenere around somewhere, it could be me. looking forward to putting a few miles on the bike and getting rid of these chicken strips. :)

If I didn't have barber in two week's I'd go. I really wanted to get back up there again this year and experience it on the tenere. Have a great and safe trip. 8)

As it turns out, Ironhorse is reserved for the Founders' Fest this weekend....we could camp and have B'fast...but everything else will be unavailable...I'm searching for alternative digs...either Deals Gap (restaurant and beer) or Kickstand Lodge (neither)....will respond later today once I know where.

Kickstand Lodge does serve food and beer. It is on a donation basis and laid back. Mo & Bobby cook some excellent meals on weekend nights when a lot of folks are there. Breakfast is on you, basically go to the fridge get the food out and cook it yourself. Afterwards leave a donation in the jar. ;D Very laid back place with a very clean shower house and you don't have to bring towels or wash rags since there is a clean pile on the locker box in the shower house. Beer is in a cooler at the end of the outdoor bar or either on ice in a cooler. Several brands are available mostly can beer. Again just leave some money any money is good no money bad ;) I go there all the time great place to unwind and super cool folks running the place. Mo does not get out until around noon unless she has grass to mow. Bobby is there every weekend. No reservation required for camping. Several 110 outlets scattered around and even a few 30 amps for campers and toy haulers. I was there in my toy hauler 3 weeks ago. I will be up there for Fred Fest oct. 7th-10th
