Hello there!

Well, I'm thinking about selling my S10. No, I don't want another bike, this is my dream bike. If I can get any bike in the world I will get this again.

Why I'm selling it? I have some health issues that I won't be riding it in the short and mid-time. So, every day, I woke up, I see her covered waiting for me. I start it often. And that kills me. So I decided that is better to sell it and someone else enjoys it and when I get better but an s10 again and not suffer seeing here there and not be able to ride it :(

it's 2012, blue, with a lot of accessories (I know I won't recover that money its ok), like Lithium battery, led with awesome dust caps hahaha, side cases givi aluminum, top case givi, protections givi, K&N washable air filter, washable oil filter (aluminum), new tires, etc etc etc. I hast around 20k miles of pure love in it.

I just dont know how much start asking for it. I'm in Florida.

Any advice on price and where I could publish it?

For now, I will travel thru the pictures of people here in this forum, until I get better to ride again.

Thanks for reading!

Sorry to hear about your health issues. After reading your post several ideas come to mind. If you decide to sell, list it on this forum. Consider removing some or all of your accessories especially those Givi cases. Save them for your next S1O. Or sell them seperately, again on this forum. Price? I know it sucks but used 2012-2013 S10s are only going for $5000-$6000 on a good day. I have a 2013 and watch used prices. There are 2 at some area dealers advertised for about $6500 and they are not moving. Good luck with your health and bike situation.

I betting he doesn't "leave". He'll be lurking. . . . I would. For the sale? I'd promote a fly-n-ride. Yes, there are still some restriction, but they are loosening up. (and if protesters can do what they want, why can't we?) It's also the perfect time of year to schedule a long ride. . . . as long as you can avoid the occasional hurricane. The bike is broken in, and I'm assuming all serviced. So, if you do sell with all the goodies, the new owner has a turn-key (no pun intended) deal that's ready to go. . . . anywhere, and any distance. Good luck. :)

Last summer I bought a 15 ES with 30k on it for 6500. 3-5k is what I've been seeing gen 1s go for after sitting on for sale adds for quite some time. The no cruise hurts it the most I think most guys want an adventure seating position on a highway cruiser which is something the S10 is great at.

Well if I am buying it, then it's worth about $2500. If I'm selling the bike, it's worth about $7500.

Some place between them is probably realistic. Sad to see how low some of these Gen 1 bikes sell for, but I didn't buy it for resale value.

Yes this forum is a very good place to advertise your S10 Tenere.
Another good place is Cycle Trader, a friend just sold his BMW on Cycle Trader, you get the first 9 days ad for free, it took 7 days to sell his BMW to someone living 40 miles away, he got a decent price and everyone was happy with the deal.
Sorry to hear your selling but good luck !

Wow. We all sell at some point, it's just a surprise to think of you leaving.

Hope you do better.
I'm definitely not leaving. I'm going to keep seeing post of trips and landscapes here. Again still something that I'm deciding. I mean, if its for 3k I wont sell it definitely. But anyway, not a good year, I guess is the same for a lot of people
Thanks for your message

I took care of her. I changed oil every 3k miles or less. When changing tires, I took the wheel off myself and drove to the place to replace the tire. I don't trust anybody around my baby. hahaha. Anyway,. I will wash it around this days and upload some pictures.

I bought it from a German guy that already had the new model. He told me that he went for the new model for the cruise control and the full electronic throttle because he had some issues with his hand. Mine has the "throttle lock" that at some point someone called cruise control hahaha.

My BMW friend lives out by Modesto California, a few months ago the BMW dealer had 60 used bikes in stock but when they started lifting the stay at home orders every single used bike got sold. So hopefully Used motorcycle sales ain’t As difficult as we might think ?

For a random Florida zip code, the NADA low retail is $5255 and the average retail is $6915 with the factory options that mimic yours, like side bags and top case, skid plate/crash bars, etc. That gives you some info. Cycle Trader shows 4 S10s in a 400 mile radius from zip 32030, ranging from $5495 to $7999. The low end one has no luggage and just under 21k miles. The other three all have some kind of luggage and 21,500 to 33,200 miles, so are fairly comparable. All are at dealers.

The most expensive, $7999, one has red pin stripes barfed all over it, but also has tall screen with a Madstad adjuster, Zumo GPS, Rumbux Full Spec bars, Rox risers, metal side cases and a Shad top box plus some other goodies on it, but it's at a dealer too.

The $6400 bike w/33,200 on it looks stock except for a weathered set of Pelican case side bags, also at a dealer.

The $6200 bike with 21,500 has some nice panniers, but no top box. Looks like a tall screen, but little else going for it in the way of farkles. Also at a dealer.

Comparing those to your bike, with farkles included, you should be ok in the $6-6500 range as a private party sale. A better deal than the pimped out one for $7999 and lower miles, (or comparable), and more add ons than the others.

Hope that helps you pick a starting point. You can always accept less, but you can't ask for more than your asking price.

Try going on to RumbleOn to see how much they'll pay. It'll probably be anywhere from $1-2k under what you can sell it private party, but without the hassle of hagglers, scams, etc.

deftoner -

My first post here. This seems like a great forum, and I hope it's okay to stray from the topic a bit. I find myself wanting to reach out to you on a personal level.

I just picked up a used S10 to replace one that I sold several years ago due to health issues. I'll post with an introduction later. There's a long backstory, but I actually started riding as a way of dealing with those health issues - riding replaced a lot of things that I could no longer do. Even though the S10 brought me a lot of pleasure, I sold it as I couldn't risk dropping it on the sorts of remote trips I was doing at the time. I needed a smaller bike.

I can relate to this:

So, every day, I woke up, I see her covered waiting for me. I start it often. And that kills me. So I decided that is better to sell it and someone else enjoys it and when I get better buy an s10 again and not suffer seeing here there and not be able to ride it :(
I actually quit my job as a result of having to see my colleagues doing the work I wished I could be doing, and I sold a bunch of possessions that also reminded me of what I couldn't do.

The good news is, surgery fixed my health issue. I'm back to no limitations. I'm back doing the same job and I bought another S10 yesterday.

If you want to talk, feel free to PM.

Take care,

Dave

I've sold a few bikes on Craigslist with success. First thing, have good pictures of every angle of the bike, list farkles, list maintenance done. Check local listing of your 'competition" (like STs) and price towards the low end - good luck!

PS - I tried Rumble on for my 2008 FJR, they quote $1,700, I sold it for $4,000 on CL (had 60,000 miles).
