Just curious to know if someone else experiences this. Occasionally (say 1 in 10) on turning the ignition key to ON position, all the lights light up and go off immediately, rather than going off after a few seconds [except for the Neutral and ABS lights, which stay on until a gear is engaged and the bike starts rolling]. When this happens the bike still runs fine, as if the electronics went through the normal self-diagnosis sequence. This started happening around a year ago and at first I was concerned (somebody on this forum had suggested checking the ground connections). However, after so much time (it's been at least a year) and with no noticeable effects when this happens, my level of concern has drastically diminished, though I would like to know the cause of this.

As I said in the beginning, I'm curious to know if someone else experiences this. The bike is 2013 (Gen 1) with 28,000 km (18,000 miles).

Mine also seems to have both a fast and a slow self diagnosis startup. In my case it seems to go through the start up phase faster if the engine is still warm from recently being shut off. Have you noticed this pattern? I haven't really thought or worried about it in my case.

Bang on. Seems to do the shorter cycle with a warm engine. I will now look out for this condition more, to see if there's a pattern.

What is the battery voltage like? A low voltage condition could cause the sensors to mix behave.
Battery still OK - Haven't had any problems starting the bike.

Does the tach still do the same sweep with the long or short bulb check?
