I have had my hands on the stock seat, Russell seat, and Rick Mayer seat. I measured the pitch of the seat as it sets on a flat surface as shown below. Both the Russell and RMS have a pitch of 25 degrees, while the stock seat has a pitch of 14 degrees. Those who are adding washer to the front of their seat are essentially trying to replicate this pitch; however, there is such a significant difference, I don't believe they will find a comfortable seating position through this method.
The Russell will raise you about 1" and if you are short, you might have problems getting your feet over the wings. I modified my stock seat (toward the bottom of this page
http://www.bopisolutions.com/Tenere/tenere.htm) to replicate this pitch and preserve the height. I also installed the SW-Motech lowering pegs to gain back the seat to peg distance I lost by lowering the seat.
