Took my Super Tenere on my first 200 mile trip yesterday. Arlington Texas to Dublin Texas and back. I wore jeans and sat on my stock 2012 seat. Any advise on making the seated position more comfortable?

Is it the lean of the seat down toward the tank or something else. There is a thread on leveling out the seat if that is what you are talking about. I kind of like the stock seat, most don't.

I'd start with getting rid of cotton...one of the worst things to wear. Seat angle is a bit canted forward. Easy to fix. I put about 12K miles on mine and decided I'll be upgrading primarily for her as she's always found the rear seat only good for 200 miles. I've done multiple 700+ miles days and found it livable. Still deciding between Seat Concepts and Liam's.

It is primarily the lean of the seat. I kept having to readjust as I slid forward and crammed myself against the gas tank. I little more give and sculpting would also be nice.

There is a thread in here about changing out the rubber bumpers under the seat to the shorter ones. Actually works very well. I did it to my 2012, but left it stock on my 2014 ES. I have long legs and don't worry about the sliding forward so much.

I did the replacement rubber bumpers as well. Total cost shipped to me was about $21. Well worth it in my opinion. Worked like a charm! ::012::

See: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=2306.0

Place: Boats.net
Part: 22W-24741-00-00 PAD,SEAT (Yamaha Motor)
Price: $3.09/each

I bought 5 because I most often use the low seat. High seat really only needs 3 because the rear bumpers don't touch.

I've sent my seats to Seth Laam also. They let me know the day before my "scheduled" time Seth is running about two weeks behind. I had already sent them so I'll be about 5 weeks without my bike. Man, I hope they come back great!

Yep I'm with you, after the initial break in period my seat is now very comfy :)

I did try Sargent but it wasn't any better for me and was too 'slippery'

The Seam on Jeans hurt after relatively short time.

I have also sent mine to Seth Laam. I am sure he will do a very good job. The reviews of his seats tends to be very positive. When you are like me with a butt that consists of "skin-over-bone" one needs to do some thing. I used an air hawk on my last 5,000+ mile trip and it did help a lot. I am hoping that Seth's seat will be even better.

Several of you have sent your seats to Seth Laam. What differentiates his work from the other seat vendors?

I sent an email today for an update. I was informed Seth should get to my seat on 6/29. My original date was 6/4 so I shipped my seat out on 5/26 (it arrived 6/2). I'm trying not to be too upset to be without a motorcycle for 6-8 weeks but my patience is wearing a little thin. I'm not sure what put Seth so unexpectedly far behind, perhaps illness or a death in the family and I'm sure I'll love the seat when I get it back. This is what I tell myself to keep from getting too upset (it has already cost me two rides - Chattanooga to Harrisonburg, VA for work and a trip to Orlando for fun). Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new seat.

My seat was delivered to Seth on March 17, 2015, received it back on May 8. Had to be patient, he is busy.

Delay's like these are why some riders buy a used seat to use during the 'seat build' time. Post to find out if someone has a seat to sell.

Replace it with an aftermarket unit. I have a "corbin" butt. So I bought a corbin seat for mine. Went from only being able to sit in the saddle for about an hour to all day riding...

I had 2 seats done by Seth Laam and it only took about 2 weeks each. I guess I did those on the off season. Also I ahd another seat to use in the meantime, so not a problem.
