I've read a lot of seat threads, and also modded the OEM seat so that there's much less tilt.
29" inseam, so I don't want to go any taller on the seat height, if it can be helped.

I talked to a couple of well-know seat mod places, and they tell me that there's not much they can do with the OEM seat, without raising it a couple of inches.

So, I looked at the Corbin seats. Never owned one of those.... but I hear that they're hard as a rock.

No, I'm not going to buy a leg stretcher, and I'm not into platform boots.

I really, really, really like this bike, but the seat is killing.

I'd like to think that my arse is somewhat "seasoned"........typically 30,000+ miles each year..... at least for the past 15 years or so... before that, more like 10,000 per year.

I have Bill Mayer Saddles seats on my Tenere and I am not excited about them or would not recommend them.

I have had a Corbin seat on my KLR for years and i would recommend them if you can talk to them. I am lucky enough to be able to Ride In at the Hollister store. I have had my seat modified twice. The second time was to have a layer of the new material added to the top of the seat. Corbin started using a different material about 3-4 years ago and it is a lot softer though still firm. Dual layer seems to work well for me and I am 225 lbs.

Give Seth Laam a call. He knows what he's doing and should be able to give you some good options. Reasonable prices as well.

I did my own. I removed the cover and sliced off a layer of the foam so the seat was now level. I bought a piece of Saddle Gel from Saddlemen and installed that. I used Memory foam from one of the pillows they sell in Walmart to fill in around the front and to fill any gaps. Reinstalled the OEM cover. The pad sits where it needs to under the Butt cheeks. The Memory foam is softer at the front so there is no pressure on my junk ::013::

I'm thinking that I want it a fuzz higher in the front, and wider, and also wider in the back.
Also - the rear of the seat needs to be "dished" in the middle.

Looks like the Corbin seat is like this.

If I were taller, I could just have someone add additional foam to the top and sides and dish it a little bit in the middle, in the back section.

I'm short. 5'7" with a 30" inseam.
This is what I did. Worked great! Gives you 2.3" additional height in the inseam where it counts.
Now you can sit on any bike that is taller instead of buying another seat.

If you make it wider and higher in the front then that is going to add to your problem. Your legs will be pushed apart at the top. Think of a triangle and you are increasing the angle at the top. You need the seat level, same as the mods done with the rubber bumpers. You do the same by slicing off a layer of the foam to level the seat. About 2". With the saddle gel you are adding an inch and the seat is flat. I tried the low seat and this is high at the front and dished in the middle. Did not work for me on trips. Could not move along the seat to change position. With my mod I am firmly on the balls of my feet and can flat foot one side and still have the other foot touching. 5' 8", 30" inseam. Shock preload on the red line.

do they really add 2 inches?
Yup, originally made for women, they found a market for us short guys too. Not cheap at $500, but worth every penny. Superb construction.

::026:: Did a ride-in with Seth for a seat on my FJR. He was able to narrow the front of the [new] seat enough that I can almost flat foot the beast now. Great service and an excellent final product!

In the early days Yamaha had a Low Seat option. Not the mechanical lowering, a low seat. Is that still available?

Yea they are steep, but a seat is also expensive. If you change out your bike, the boots will still be in use, if you have a second bike, still good. If you ride your buddies bike, still good. Get it?

Just the one I have shown. They have other models too, but none have the hidden height built in to the boot like this model.

I'm at 30" inseam and have the Yamaha lower seat on the lower setting.
(Yamaha Super Tenere Low Seat 2012 23P-F47C0-V0-00)
It has made a difference over the stock seat and its still comfortable. I recommend it.
It gives me a little more confidence in slow speed maneuvers and parking lots.
You can find it online at a reasonable price around $205

The low OEM seat has been great for me. Very comfortable, seems flat (no forward lean) and perfect for my 29" inseam.
