Seat Concepts - Reviews

I have read through sevaral threads regarding seats and mod options. I'm looking to get some feedback from others who have the seat concepts kit installed or had it installed but have since switched to another seat option. Can you give your thoughts on how much of an improvement over stock the seat concepts seat provides as well as any other comments good or bad. I'm ready to pull the trigger on one to replace both stock and a Corbin. I like the corbin but it is too slippery, stocker has tailbone sore after a 200+ ride.

I have the Seat Concepts, both seats. I did the install. It is quite an improvement over stock. Because I am always looking for a better way, have a Russel Day Long on order. Can't report on that yet, but hoping it will be even better than the SC.

I got my Seat Concepts seat back in Oct. I have only put 2000 miles on it and only 2 or 3 hundred miles a day. That said, I like it better than stock and better than the" Bill Maier" I had on my
1st Tenere. Seems like it is going to be OK.

Mine works wider than stock I have the heavy under foam, it's feels a bit hard but better than hitting the seat pan after 100 miles on the OEM.

Does the Seat Concepts width come into play when standing on the pegs? Pics look like it is wider in the back and slims down in the front.

I have one on my DRZ. Feels slightly less like a 2x4 up your ass than stock.

Yes it is wider in the back but I have no issue standing up, just sliding around as I have the non skid gripper cover and with it being wider your planted like a willow tree.

Thank you for the feedback. How is the seat height compared to stock with the SC installed?

I am also interested in this seat and received an e-mail from them that the seat is the same as the high position of the stock seat. They mentioned that they are considering making a low seat version. No eta was given.

Just got their 1"+ (thick) DRZ seat on their own seat pan. Cost a bit more, but now my DRZ is almost dreamy to sit on. Much less 2X4ish. :)

Seat Concepts Seat

I've put around 10,000 km's on my Seat Concepts seat and although I've found it to be a substantial improvement on the stock seat I've found a couple of short comings which I'm going to fix.

I'm just under 6' with a 32" inseam and I find the seat in the low position a bit too high for comfort. This might not be all the seats fault as I've fitted an Ohlins rear shock with an 850 inch/lb spring which does sit the rear a tad higher than normal. I was hoping that the seat foam would've conformed a bit more to my backside but I only find the seat good for the odd 400 to 600 km day as I find the seat a bit uncomfortable for long distance work involving consecutive days of riding.

I'm going to get the rear of the seat lowered slightly with a more pronounced dish for better support. The seat foam feels good but I think the shape can be improved. I know seats are a deeply personal thing and I still think the Seat Concepts seat is good value for the money but just wanting to share my experience.

What do other owners with a few miles on their Seat Concepts seat now think? Has anyone modified the shape or foam?

Cheers,

Tony

I like mine 6' 3" 32" inseam in low as I have the fat guy padding on mine.
Yes it's hard on the A$$ but so is ever other seat I have sat on, Corbin the hardest.

Your take pretty much matches my sentiment. Please post up pics and your impression if you have modded it. Cheers.

Sorry twinrider but I've backed away from modifying the seat for now. As much as I would like to improve the seat I'm worried about making it worse. I've had mixed success with customising seats in the past so I'm a bit cautious. Also, the bottom has really fallen out of the AUD and if the mod doesn't work and I have to source replacement foam etc from O/S it's going to be expensive. So I've put this project on hold for now.

siince I never seem to be able to find things on the various buckets on this forum I thought I'd cross post this here. I didn't have a huge issue with the stock seat but it definately could use some improvement. I went with the Stock Seat Concepts version, $250 delivered and you mount it on your pan (they will do it for you for an additional fee). Compared to the stock seat, the new foam is a little wider, a little taller, and IMHO of much better quality, stock foam is on the left, SC on the right:

For comparison this would be the stock seat vs the SC seat in embossed top with black sides:

Installation wasn't that bad, just buy a GOOD stable gun and take your time. I've only a couple hundred miles on it thus
far but it's not hard to spot the different, 'much more comfortable.

I had a Seat Concepts seat on a Kawasaki Versys. It came with the bike so I never rode it with the stock seat. It was wonderful! I miss it. More comfy than the stock seat on the S10. I think it did raise the seat height from stock.
