We just got our SC seats (F+R with gripper top/plain vinyl sides) and they rock!

They are far more comfortable then stock, now my main complaint is some pain between the shoulder blades...another issue.
They are much wider and the rear kind of obscures the passenger grab handles. The girl was not able to use them once we were loaded up for our trip last weekend.
I installed them myself and have a few observations...not really good ones.

1) if you have your stapler turned up more than absolutely neccessary (mine was at 60psi, could have gone lower) you will push the staples clear through the vinyl! It is really quite delicate stuff, not really suitable for this application in my opinion.

2) the rear of the front seat cover was ill fitting. With the front seam positioned correctly, the rear was off the back when mildly taught. The seams on the sides at the rear both tore a couple stitches getting them on and they weren't long enough to boot. By about an inch on either side...I had to stretch the material quite a bit and staple it right near the edge there. Quite a PITA.

3) I have a rather large fold that developed on the side of the pass. seat that was not there when I was stapling it down :-[

I would recommend spending the extra time to have SC install these for you, as you will get a much better result, and without the headache. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend them.

BTW, use the code OLEXPO2014 for 15% off checkout...
Nice review, how about a pic or two?

One more thing I forgot to comment,

The S10 are IMHO probably one of the more difficult covers to put on. The seats are too short to give any appreciable stretch, which is probably why I ended up tearing them so much (and using an excessive number of staples!)

Pics to follow...

Here are the pictures. I noticed some other things that really bug me when I took the pictures. Really, you get what you pay for. All in all, I am happy with their performance and comfort, especailly at that price point. However, I am very displeased with the fit and finish.

Thanks for all the pics. I hope they look better if SC does the install. Anyone else want to weigh in on this?

I have had one for about a year and over 10k miles. I had a local pro install mine. Fit and finish first rate. Can't comment on how it works with stock grab rails since my Holan Pannier system has its own grab rails.

Here's the one I did myself using a Harbor Freight pneumatic stapler and Arrow 6mm T50 Monel rustproof staples. This was my first time every doing upholstery.

Interesting. I fought with mine initially having never done one before, but called them and had a nice chat with one of the guys. With a few tips, mine came out great. It seems to me that the quality of materials and fit is just fine if the cover is installed properly.

So I ordered the front seat kit last night for my bike despite the fact that I wasn't able to properly research it. (for some reason this forum wouldn't load on my browser yesterday) Now that the site is working again, I've just finished reading this thread as a way to try to make myself feel better about ordering something without fully researching it.

From what I gather, it seems like there have been some slight changes to the kit since first coming out? The main one being the dense foam option. The website currently doesn't have a denser foam option and I'm wondering if I missed something. I'm 6'/250 and I think a denser foam would be something I would want but I'm not sure. Maybe SC is using a different foam than before?

Would anybody be able to chime in on this? I plan on calling SC on Monday but I would appreciate some comments beforehand.

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you put your weight in the comments section of the order they will include the more dense foam. Just give them a call or sent an email, they are pretty easy to work with. HTH

I had contacted them to see if they have any plans to offer a low seat foam and cover kit for the tenere. They apparently have been working on one but according to them " We have been playing with a low seat. We are in the later stages of development but do not have a bike to test the seat on so we are currently on hold"
They are looking for a rider in their area (San Jacinto California) who would be interested in being a tester.
Contact seatconcepts@gmail.com if you are interested in helping to develop this.
I have sent them an email, and will update this thread if I hear back from them. I am only about one hour away from where they are.

I'm 235 and went with the harder foam. Love it!

I have see worse, how much is another cover?
Mine looks great from the top but a CL-F on the underside, it is a bit short sort of need another hand if you haven't done reupholstering before..

I'm looking at pulling the pin on the rider and pillion seat from Seat Concepts and was wondering if any riders have had any dramas with the seat causing undue pressure in the nether region? It's just that the front half of the riders seat appears to be ramped up quite a bit to overcome the OEM seats downward slope. Nothing worse than having the boys cramped up on a long ride! :(

I thought the downward slope of the seat caused more problems for the "boys".

If you have an air stapler, follow the directions in positioning and stretching the new cover, you'll get a nice looking seat with better (wider and more firm) support for longer rides. For $159, this is a great value.

I still like my sheepskin from Alaska Leather and for long days (12+ hrs) I now use an AirHawk pad.

I installed the rider and pillion seat foam and covers last weekend. I learned I am not good at upholstering, but overall, it went fine. I may end up pulling some staples out, pulling it tighter in spots, and trying again at a later date, but it's working. My pillion really liked the upgrade, although we haven't taken any really long rides yet.

I haven't formed an opinion yet, because I need to do some more tweaking. I ride with my seat in the low position and have the seat tilt mod (almost identical to this: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1465) normally, and I think I have too much tilt. I'm going to undo that this weekend, and then play around with low position vs high position to see how I like it. Anyone else have the seat mod and end up going back to stop with Seat Concepts foam? Is that the right move? I have to locate my stock rubber bumpers, I know I kept them...

Just spent an hour on my SC seat and have to say I'm as happy as! I opted for the embossed top with plain vinyl sides, as well as new foam and matching cover for the pillion seat.

I'm 5'11" and weigh 200lbs with a 32" inseam and this seats shape, height and foam density have hit the mark for my butt anyway.....miles ahead of the OEM seat. In fact, it has really transformed the bike for me.

Considering the cost and quality of the SC product compared to the competition I think it represents very good value.
