I've got a 2016 / Gen 2 S10. I went to check / adjust the preload and the option wasn't on the menu. It just cycles back and forth from the info display to the rebound setting (i.e. hard, std, soft) display. (I'm also not getting the grip warmer page, and I think I have some ECU codes too, but those are questions for another post).

I got the following SCU codes:

61-89:
61 = Malfunction History Display
89 = Malfunction code
(I understand it will cycle through all the codes every 2 seconds if there are multiple) I'm only getting 89

I can't find what code 89 is? I'm not getting the preload error light on the dash showing up, so I'm a bit confused.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

There's a procedure to reset the suspension, I would recommend using Google to search "yamahsupertenere suspension reset"....the results will include this forum (the forum search function here sucks).

Tried that. It went through the reset procedure, but still not getting the option when cycling through the menu.

I don't know why i didn't think to check the fuse first. I'll do that and report back.

Thanks for that image. Is that from the service manual? I couldn't find it in mine.

You should first of all “delete” the codes…if you didn't manipulate anything, delete the codes and see if they appear again. Put your ear on the electric motors of the front shock absorbers, when you change from soft to std/hard, you should hear how the electric motors are energized...and remember that the preload appears only when the engine is running

I didn't know the engine needed to be running for preload to work. Once I started the engine it worked fine.

I'll still go through and clear the codes and see if anything pops up again.
