Mine solved completely, the dealer tieed the wires apart since mine suffered EMI or electronic magnetic interferences. No problems, since then I'Ve rodé. 10.000 kms in 3 months. No problem at all, and bike runs smooth at idle, never stops, can switch between d modes, just tie the wiring apart and a positive result Will came in. Vmax and r1 experiencie something similar acording to my dealer.
Hope that helps!

About time Yamaha sent a "bulletin" to the dealers about this, there seems to have been several cases on this site alone, which cannot represent more than a few percent of owners.

I assume they must have a "knowledgebase" online for dealers these days, if not they should, this would ensure punters do not end up paying for an ECU which ends up "fixing" the issue just because the wires got disturbed.

Many years ago I had a Turbo Seat that kept losing power, despite a fault code it went in 3 times before they fixed it, the last part (Air Flow Meter) was about £175 fitted - but they had already taken over £500 from me swapping out parts that did not fix the problem.

Why should their inability to diagnose cost me money

With this one you could go through a whole load of parts and sensors and still not solve the issue, if their was a Yamaha Knowledge Base a dealer could check they would find it real quick, just after the Hard Start and Headlight Harness.

Many years ago (pre internet) I worked for a Honda dealer and they used to send out bulletins in paper format which we would file under each bike, if a weird problem came along the first thing you would do is check the bulletins.

In this day and age a dealer should be able to put in the reg and get a list of all known issues / recalls etc for any bike in seconds, along with the bikes history - I know BMW do this for bikes and most car manufacturers do similar.

Rasher I agree but I dont know wich country do you live, here in argentina there are lots of bmw with unsolved problems, some due to spare parts restricton in customs but many but others simply wont start. Along with ducati they have lots of bikes to fin
In my case, yamaha worked beside my dealer till they solved, and that included a test drive bike to switch components and check parameters
