Knowing this post has been in asleep for a while now, I don't think I need to start a new thread about the same subject given the fact that, in my search, this thread come up immediately and in first place (urahhhh)! On the subject in analysis, let me just tell about my experience hoping I can help someone else and myself in the process:

I mounted a swmotech as a mounting solution for my Garmin Zumo 340 a couple of months ago and about 2000ks after I came to the conclusion it vibrates so damn much I sometimes feel it going to break the support for the windshield! So I took it out. With it in my hand I realised it was 3 times heavier than the gps it self. It just so solidly built it weighs a ton... nevertheless I love to have my gps in my line of sight and hated the idea of not using the bar for it known purpose (the could have built it a little stronger I think...). So I started looking for another solution and found this: http://www.ebay.es/itm/Garmin-Navihalter-Alu-fur-Zumo-340-350-390-fur-Motorrader-mit-Bugel-/272194504346?

It just a (expensive) piece of aluminum that bolts directly to the crossover and the Garmin with no fuss whatsoever. Still waiting for it to arrive. Lets see if this solves , at least, part of the problem. Anyone have a better idea. I refuse to mount my gps any other place!
