I am interested in one with the open channel so if someone wants to
upgrade I'm looking for a front old style ( solo) seat.

I've emailed Saddlemen several times only to be repeatedly told that they have no pics. I asked them why they can't have production snap a couple, they are for sale so presumably they are making them in their factory. No response...

So, anyone actually tried the saddlemen adv tour yet?
If you search the big XT1200Z thread on advrider you can find an owner's report. Last time I checked he is still undecided as to the final verdict pending full break-in.

I just put one on, the seat is softer than the track seat and I like the material cover better. Seat is a little taller than stock. Feels pretty good to me, going on a 1k trip 1st week in Sept. will see if I'm still happy when I get back.

Any pics? Looking forward to hearing your impressions of it after you do some long days in the saddle. ::008::

Looks good. Does the seat sit flat or does it tilt forward? Is the material slippery so you can move around on it while you ride or sticky like the stock seat?

The material is different than the track seat, and doesn't grab like the stock seat. I didn't think the stock seat was all that bad, but it was a little too soft. This doesn't tilt forward. Pretty happy with it so far, as I said it is softer than the track seat I had on my Duc. The stock Duc seat was firm to say the least, so the track seat was a big improvement. I have had 3 Mayer seats on other bikes and this is as good or better. Like I said, going on a longer ride soon will have a better idea then. HD, see you live in NorCal, you are welcome to try it if you are in the area.

What's your opinion of the rear pillion? The Saddlemen website only talks about the d-rings. I'm more interested in how it feels. Wife is unhappy with stock. Website doesn't even say if it uses gel.

Wife hasn't ridden on the rear seat yet, it is wider and thicker than stock. It is supposed to have gel also. Don't think she will be on it before I go on a solo trip for a week.

Fwiw, the latest from owner who posts on advrider says he's not crazy about the rider's seat and is going to try a Seat Concepts. But says his wife likes the Saddlemen pillion.
