Go easy with this stuff on the Tenere, it is hard on the Yamaha engine paint. It left a bad surface finish and I had to use the detailer to bring it back to the OEM look.
Just a heads up, great product for everything else.

This should be listed under the recommendation "DON'T USE S-100 CYCLE CLEANER"!!!!!

Along with 80 grit sandpaper, a mill file, a Dremel or a handful of dirt ::025::

Count me in the "DON'T USE S-100" camp. I tried it, didn't like it... Had friends tell me to try it again, and still didn't like it. IMHO it's just too caustic for many finishes used on motorcycles. I've had much better luck with just mild liquid dishwashing soaps, and believe it or not the old "Mr Clean" vehicle cleaning kits were pretty damn good.

OTOH, I'm sure most all of you know this, but good ol' WD-40 is one hell of an engine cleaner. Hose the bike off, let the water run off a bit, then douse the engine with WD-40 and let it sit a while, then rinse it off again. Amazing how well it works for that specific application. Just don't do when the engine's hot. Of course you should never be washing the bike, and especially the engine, when it's hot. Once you're completely done with your bike cleaning dampen a rag with WD-40 and wipe the engines surfaces down and it'll be a lot easier to clean the next time, even if it's weeks later.

Been using it for decades and never had any ill effects.

Just FYI... YMMV.

Good tips here! I had a container of HondaBrite (reportedly made by the S-100 folks) that I purchased years ago. I tried it during my cleaning project yesterday and never did see where it did a lot of good. My diluted solution of Simple Green and water seemed to work best.

Simple green is rough on aluminum. It ages a bike rapidly.

Motul moto wash. It's expensive and worth it.

Are you all talking about the s100 spray wax, or is there another s100 wash product?

I ask because the s100 stuff that I always use is a spray wax and I dont find it to be harsh at all. In fact, the only thing I clean my helmet shield and windshield with is the s100 stuff. Also works great for a quick shine of the whole bike, makes paint shine, powder coat nice and clean and pretty much the same everywhere else......

Bucking the in crowd as usual >:D I don't have a problem with S100 but then again I'm not spraying it on my paint, guages and controls ::) it has what's called an instruction usage on every bottle, read it some time it might come in handy.

FWI worth Suzuki cleaner is cheaper and works just as well and most likely is S100 rebadged.

I use simple green carefully, and then after the bike is sort of dry, I coat the engine, mechanicals, and rubber in Pledge. Yes Pledge, you pick the scent. After riding, Pledge leaves behind a beautiful shine and protects the engine and rubber. Future dirt, bugs, and grime washes off easier too. Black engines will shine like never before.

I have detailed cars and bikes for years. I have used it on cars engines too. My car engines look new even after 100k miles. It works fantastic.

Keep away from brake parts :)
