Russia is proposing a new Super Highway from Europe through Russia an through Alaska through the US. I hope this happens before I am too old to ride it from one end to the other!]

Who's going to pay for it? With oil prices crashing, Russia is broke as a joke. I don't see any reason the US would want to build a big bridge to Siberia.

Most of Europe have toll road highways connecting throughout, so that is a non-runner, as for Russia to Alaska, that is something different, we'll see.

Across Europe the pay for it. Across Russs they pay for it. Across US we do. The bridge? A joint effort. Perhaps across Russia an Europe a joint effort tween them. Everyone could work something out.

That dead straight bit across Russia will be so boring with no twisty bits! My tyres will get a flat spot but then I suppose the cruise control will come into its own. ::015::

When I lived in Fairbanks this sort of story popped up every now and then. Building bridge across the Bering Sea is an engineering and monetary challenge up there with colonizing Saturn. A tunnel may be more practical.... not particularly practical, but more son than a bridge. People already ski, use dog sleds or SnoGo across on the ice. Alaska is also in a financial crisis because of the plunge in oil revenue. The people would love another federally funded boondoggle.

I personally wouldn't go anywhere near a Russian road, especially on a bike period. Seems like most of the drivers there are drunk or trying to set you up for an accident. Good luck though, if they ever build it...
