Seems as altrider has now matched the price, but still lacking the upper bars? So tell me what do I buy?

Depends on how you ride. Rumbux does not attach to the engine casing and Altrider does.

I have Rumbux and do not regret. Many more will say the same about Altrider.

Both are VERY good and both will protect your bike from your average carnage, but the Rumbux goes just a tad farther to place the impact on the frame rather than the sump.

Plus... Eric V is great to deal with!!! ::008::

I have Altrider but do not feel its a fair comparison. The Altrider is nice and from my experience a perfectly good protection but if you do any serious off-roading be very cautious in picking your lines. Mine was pretty trashed after Colorado. The Rumbux is bomb proof, along with Jackson's setup. If I had to choose again I would go with Jackson's setup and the Altrider crash bars.

What is "Jackson's Setup"?

I live in CO and plan to ride the COBDR.. Is that what you rode and it thrashed the skid plate? The main section of the COBDR as opposed to some of the off-shoots which I hear can be more challenging. Just want to make sure I buy the right skid plate. I was leaning heavily towards the Altrider…

The roughest I rode in colorado was the Alpine loop and I don't remember taking any hard hits that made me cringe, but my skid plate looked like it had been to battle. It did its job, and for sure is worth the money. Here is a link Jacksons setup, you won't even ding it! My personal opinion this is the ticket with the Altrider crash bars or equivalent.

I ordered the Altrider skid plate for my ES model. I can tell you it will work with "Modifications". I have an email from Altrider stating that the 2014 is still in "development". Thank god I had a good friend help me out with it.
