After getting T-boned by a cage last year and having the OEM crash bars totalled on the tenere, I wanted to add a little beefier bars to the beast... looked all over, including for advice here. Ended up talking with Deon over at Rumbux in South Africa.... Amazing fellow, amazing product. For not much more than the OEM bars alone, he shipped a set of bars and plate from South Africa to my home in Budapest, Hungary, in a matter of a few days. Install was a snap, taking about twenty minutes with a friend. Coverage is impressive, you can still take off the side panels, skid plate attaches to the frame not the engine, plenty of room to add lights (they come with a light mount) or highway pegs, and THICK..... bloody good product. You feel like you could take a rhino out with your yam, which is silly but fun. :)

If you need a beefy bar/plate combo, this is as good as they get!

All true, and they are easy to live with as well. I sell these in the US. I was so impressed with Deon and the Rumbux bars that I started importing these for US sale, as no one else was. It's not much of a profit maker, but gives the US riders access to an excellent product that nothing else compares to.

Bought a set of the crash bars from Eric here in the USA, Love the bars and skid plates. My Son tried out the crash bars and I am so happy that i have these on the Super Tenere, just scratches and no damages, thank you Eric.

I agree its a very good product but be aware that cornering clearance is reduced, do not lower the bike and use the correct preload on fork and shock. I learned the hard way, but even still i would recommend the product.

I absolutely love my Rumbux bars/skid plate. I don't ride the Tenere like a sport bike through the twisties but when I want protection for the expensive bits I have that in spades. Had one instance of needing to go from one parking lot to another and to get there by road was about 10 minutes worth of work; instead we just jumped the curb and rolled through a field. I ended up bottoming out on the curb on the other side but no damage to the bike. Same can not be said for the curb.

By the looks of this it's compatible with the yamaha lower crash bars and I read that it does only connects to the upper portion of the crash bars does that not add more stress to the front versus an I,pact being distributed throughout the back bolts and the front.

Rumbux offers an OEM add on to the Yamaha crash bars that replaces the upper hoop with one that has upper side protection. And yes, it simply attaches to the lower Yamaha crash bars, so no additional stress to other mounting points. This is much cheaper than the full Rumbux 3-Part kit, at $375 for the Super Ten, Vs $800 for the full 3-Part kit.

The Rumbux 3-Part kit's upper hoop only has a tie in attachment at the bottom of the long bolt that holds the front subframe to the main frame. Impact forces will be more transmitted to the same two bolts that the OEM side drop guards bolt to, but because of the unified design, impact forces on the 3-part kit are spread throughout the entire frame, so using both sides and the rear mounting points of the lower bash frame to absorb impact forces. It's really a cage around the engine and fairings!

I like the look of the ACD skid plate but I like the rumbux set up too. I am looking to get the most protection and the best quality. I am 100% positive I will be off road more than on once I get the skid plate crash bars and tires.

The ACD is a good quality product. It's a little more time consuming to do oil changes than the Rumbux. On the Rumbux, none of the frame work needs to be removed for service. For an oil change, it's only 6 bolts, that use heavy duty clip nuts, to remove to drop the skid plate portion, then you have full access to the drain plugs and oil filter. I believe the 3-Part kit is the strongest protection in terms of crash bars because of the integrated upper and lower cages and it's including skid plate. That said, if you want the most protection possible, in terms of skid plates, Ride On ADV offers the hands down strongest skid plate out there. It's 1/4" welded aluminum plate and can be order with various custom modifications for venting and colors. RIDE ON ADV
