I didn't buy my Super Tenere from these guys, but have had excellent service experiences with them in the 19k+ miles I've had the bike. Quick tire changes, no messing around with appointments, responsive, and very helpful. I ride 160+ miles one way to go to this shop, even though I have several Yamaha dealers within a 50 mile radius of me. It is the only shop I trust my bike with. The service manager, Eric, is a forum supporter as well, which doesn't hurt either!

::026:: After DCStrom told us about the great deal Romeny had on the Tenere I ordered my first one from there. I'm fortunate since I live only 85 miles from Romeny. The lack of BS in the buying process was wonderful. The large local Yamaha dealer just 6 miles from my house has earned my distrust. There are a number of other dealers much more conveniently located, but Romney has been worth the ride. Great buying experience, extraordinarily reasonable prices, and an owner and general manager that are very concerned about how their dealership is perceived by their customers. They really want to be the best. Seems like every time I walk in there they are asking me what they can do to improve the experience.

When my wife took over my first Tenere I needed a replacement. I really wanted another blue one, and the dealer 6 miles away had one sitting on the floor. Local dealer was unwilling to trade Romney for the black one, and at the time Romney could not find a blue one in the time frame I was willing wait (days). The choice was obvious, I called Larry, the GM at Romney and told him I'd be there in 2 days to pick up my new black Tenere.

I appreciate DCStrom introducing me to Romney. I'm very happy to give them my business, and unlike the local dealers, they seem genuinely happy to have my business.

After the couple local interactions I've had with dealers I'm definitely making the trip. It's 137 miles from Pittsburgh but I spend time in somerset PA which isn't that far away.

For planning purposes is there a campground local to the dealership? I'm thinking about the valve check when the bike should really be left over night.

I know Sailxxs camps right outside the dealership when he goes for service. Not sure about a normal campground. Probably should be something nearby. Romney is a reasonable sized town.

Call ahead and I'm willing to bet they let you camp out back and use their water.
Good people.

I usually pitch my tent on the patch of grass right by the service entrance. That way there is no chance of oversleeping... someone always shakes the tent to wake me up. :D BTW, if you get there late at night like I usually do when camping for service, the front gate will be locked.

My solution is to leave the entrance for Romeny Cycles to my right, then go to the next road on the right, turn in, make the 2nd right and follow it until you get to a parking lot with a field on your right. Just zip across the field and you drop straight into the parking lot at Romney.

Thanks Chris "camping for service" gives a whole new meaning to waiting for service. Appreciate the gate avoidance technique also since thats like my arrival time as well.

Terrysig,

I updated the directions slightly to include an right extra turn. ;) Post when you're headed over; I'll be back at Romney in early January.

I just bought a 2017 S10 es from Romney and I could not be happier. I traveled from Central Florida and brought the bike home on the auto train because their deal was so good. Spencer (sales)and Dale (business office) were awesome.

I traveled by bus and train from Indianapolis via Chicago and rode my 14 Tenere home back across Mt Storm via Rt 50. Great way to break the bike in.

I just stumbled upon this thread, and want to add my $.02. I found this dealer on Cycle Trader. Ended up buying a Kawasaki C-14 from them. I traded and older C-10 and a Hayabusa. The transaction was flawless. I kept waiting for the "catch", and there was none, just an easy, straight forward purchase. I traveled about 4 hours each way from Southern Maryland, and saved ~$4K. I always recommend them to anyone contemplating buying a bike.

I'll throw in my two cents also; Romney Cycles is a great dealership to do business with. I found them on line when I was researching the S10, and they were so far below all the other North Carolina dealerships on price that it made it worthwhile to take the 370 mile ride from my house to their door. They're definitely a "no BS" dealer, they gave me a great trade in deal on my V-Strom, and I was able to set up the whole purchase over the phone. When the time comes for another bike, they'll be my first stop.

They're a great dealer for far more reasons than just price. Actually, they're more than a motorcycle dealership.

For those of you who know the area, right now is peak leaf colors around the dealership. This was yesterday morning.

But two hours later in Thomas, 25 miles NW of the above photo, was 6" of fresh snow!

I see you were able to get a cabin. We were also out at Canaan this past weekend. Leaves were nice heading up Dolly Sods, disappeared on the Canaan side of the mountain.

Next time that area will see leaves we'll be doing the Romney Camp N Ride. For anyone that wants to experience what everyone is talking about come join us at Romney Cycles in next May. It's a great time, with great people, at a truly unique dealership.
