Sadly Ian Bell of Ian Bell Motorcycles, Bedlington was tragically killed today during the Sidecar 2 race at the isle of Man TT. Ian was racing with his son Carl as passenger who escaped the incident unharmed. I bought my first ever road legal bike from Ian at the tender age of 16 (an SS50 Honda) and have had several bikes off him over the years. Bell's Motorcycles have a great reputation in the area and are renowned for a friendly, personal service. Ian had two sons and a wife, Trudi who also worked in the business. RIP feller.

I've only just started catching up on the TT coverage, and was sad to see the highlights from sidecar race 1 where he had some mechanical issues, but knowing he had passed. My condolences to all of the riders who lost their lives at the TT this year.

It was quite a bad year this year, all very sad - but if it is what these guys want to do knowing the risks then I am happy for them to carry on. But it must be so hard for their friends and relatives watching them race here.

Just spent the weekend at Olivers Mount.

They had a 1 minute memorial on the start line and the sidecar guys did a lap in honour of Ian.

Some of them were in tears.

Very moving.

Yes, he was a very popular guy. I was in the shop yesterday and it's as you can imagine very low key. It's business as much as possible as normal however. Ronnie and Ali both looked a bit shell shocked to be honest. Sad.
