I'm visiting the area this weekend and was looking to see if anyone knows the condition of the Rim Road (Forest Road 300) after all the rain this season.
Any campground suggestions on the West end of the road, I saw that there was a campground in Happy Jack and Clint Wells

The west end of 300 should be in good shape. There has been a lot of rain this season even yesterday. There may be some ruts from trucks and 4 wheelers so watch out for that. The farther you go east, On the other side of RT.260 the road is not maintained and can be a little rougher. Calling for nice weather this weekend enjoy! Wade.

Thanks Wade - I was looking to ride full distance across - I will take it easy and watch for the 4x4 ruts. I've heard it is a good ride
Is the full distance across worth it or should I ride in from the west and back out that same direction?

It is a worth going as far as you can. I have never gone past Show Low heading east. Like I said the farther east you go the worse the road gets, Not a problem for the big bike as long as it's dry. There has been a good bit of rain up there the last couple days. If you come out on the Rt. 260 From the west you will have to take the road up a few miles into forest lakes. Look for a sign for Black Canyon Lake. Make a right. That will be the 300 Again. I may be up there Sat. or Sun. closing up my house if you have any emergency. 520-431-5488 Wade. Have fun should be a nice weekend.
