The spot where the Centech AP-1 is in that photo seems to stay dry (I had mine there on my 2012).

However, the area where the toolkit goes is not. I had the relay for the Centech there, and it got killed by heavy rain. I ended up wrapping the replacement in two layers of condom zip-tied at the bottom. and that fixed the problem.

Seems like that space is pretty water proof to me, at least with respect to rain. Got caught in a torrential downpour on the way home from Laguna Seca after the WSBK races there. Probably the heaviest rain I've ever ridden in. Checking under that panel later revealed no sign of water getting in there. I would not trust it in deep water crossing though.

I mounted my Neutrino Black Box power distribution gadget there, just forward of the battery. Found just enough room to fix it there with some double sided sticky tape.

I'm trying to figure out why the tool kit area does not protect from rain (as it has frontal protection from the rain along with the cowling) and leaving it more exposed next to the relay or battery is better. Perhaps the solution is to put a small drain hole in the tool kit area. Thoughts welcome.

Also store the tools with the pouch upside down - just in case.
