......from southeast, any roads a must or even any to stay away from?
I ride a good bit in the Renovo area but I want to venture west.
Any input greatly appreciated.

If you ride Renovo I'll assume you already know about the Caladonia Pike? And anything around the Quehanna Wild area. Dirt or tarmac.

879 north out of clearfield. look for caladonia pike on the left near karthus.

25+ miles of dirt road that ends near st. marys although the road on the otherside of 555 turns tarmac.

get a state forest map and you'll see many, many branches off the caladonia pike. great fun and camp to stay in the forest. Elk are bugling now.

i was up in st. marys area yesterday. most of the dirt roads have been serviced and are in great shape.

Great. When are you going to be up there? I camp often at the primitive state forest campground at hicks run.

Mix of tent and trailer sites but very small AND free. Water nearby, picnic table and fire ring at each site. couple trailer folks are always there and watch my stuff while i ride/fish.

Pretty sure my next trip up there is 10/12 - 13 wknd. then mid november.
