I just finished a 2 day adventure camp in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. It was a terrific experience and learned a lot. One of the things they had us do is turn off the ABS and Traction control. Riding in deep sand really needs tire spin and rider input. I've never done that before and it was a great example of when the technology actually interfere with your control.

I took that same course a couple of weeks ago on the 25th/26th of April. Those guys were great and it was a great learning experience. Deep sand is no joke on a big pig like the tenere.

Ocala Nat'l Forest in Central Florida is full of deep sand. I rode around there like an idiot with TCS1 activated and fell down so often. I know better now but holy cow is the S10 useless with TCS on. I never want fast enough where ABS caused an issue.

What did they have you do with tire pressure in sand, if anything? Thanks,

Brian

I ran the Pine Barrens 500 last Nov, the school uses a lot of the same roads.

re: Pressures I used a TKC80 front and a Kenda Big Block rear and had them around 20psi in the sand.

You need to set TCS to AT LEAST 2 but preferably "off" in the sand for sure. ABS doesn't really make any difference unless you want to do skids.
