Not to rain on everyones parade, but BC has really clamped down on speeders. http://www.onewheeldrive.net/2010/10/26/the-40kmh-solution/ If you get caught doing 40 over, they impound your bike. And since most of us from South of the Border are not used to the slower speed limits that are common in BC... Keep it in mind. I'd recommend swapping your dash settings before you leave the border crossing area. When in odo mode, press and hold the left button for a few seconds to switch to km. I haven't heard about any repeal. I'll double check with two officers that I know in BC.rem said:In Yukon, I wouldn't worry too much about your speed. I don't know about B. C. Your biggest hazard up north will be wildlife and other drivers. Both are pretty stupid. ::008:: R
Border crossings can be a pain. Make sure you bring your passport. A drivers license isn't enough and hasn't been for years. I bought a Nexus pass several years ago which allows me to cross in minutes instead of queueing with everyone else. It's $50 and a lot of paperwork plus a trip to a government office for finger printing, photos and possibly a retinal scan. (Not kidding about the scan.) It's offered at Vancouver Airport.
Double bonus, the card will get me through airport security without the usual bullshit: shoes/liquids/laptop. You have to register with your preferred airline's miles account.

I'm heading up around June 8th - 10th depending on when I can escape. I'm doing Inuvik/Alaska first then coming straight back after the rally ends. The high points: Portland, Hyder, Telegraph Creek, Whitehorse, Inuvik, Fairbanks, Denali, Kenai, back to Whitehorse for the rally week, then home. I'm due back at work on July 16th.
I have tent, AmEx, and MedJet Assist coverage with motorcycle extraction add-on. http://medjetassist.com/membership/motorcycleprotection.aspx What else do I need? (My wife says "a brain" becuase I have to be insane to be doing this. ???
