Interesting. That would be a good way to celebrate my 66th birthday.

What are the trails like? I know the Tenere does not like sand or silt.

Sounds VERY appealing. As long as my foot has rehabbed I might have to do this!

It's a mix of asphalt and forest roads. The dirt roads are no problem with 90/10 tires (I have Tourances). Some embedded rocks, ruts, tree roots but nothing technical. Some gravel. The asphalt ranges from excellent with some good twisties to poor with potholes to dodge.

Very interested. This Tenere loves gravel. With K60's any tire pressures. With Michelin Anakee 3's with reduced tire pressures (28F 32R with a load). The others, just slow down.

Ahh Crap that sounds fun. Only problem is I am starting school again in the fall and cant do Fridays.

Do you think I would still be able to do the ride if I miss Friday?

The Friday stuff is optional. A lot of people don't check in until Saturday morning.

Anyone planning on doing this thing? I really want to but don't have any friends who ride dual sports and this will be my first organized adventure ride so I would love to ride with some other people.

Whatcha guys think?

If I still have my Tenere I might go. Same here on the organized rides. I have been riding with friends from your area. They ride KLR's and are a good bunch of guys. Last Saturday we had a Tech Day in Santa Rosa. Go to FB and search Wine Country Dual Sport Riding.

My attendance is fully predicated on my being healed from my foot surgery. If I'm good I'll be there.

I'll go if anyone else is going. I don't want to commit the funds unless someone else is committed.

tc339, If you come up solo, get to registration early on Saturday tell them you are solo and they can hook you up with other riders. I'll be a sweep so I'm going to be leaving a bit late.

I'm in and registered. I found a few solo guys on ADV that I think I'm going to meet up with.

Which ride did you sign up for? I could not find a cost on either of these rides or other functions.

Go to the website. http://www.dustdevilsmc.com/Default.aspx

on the top hover over the box thats says RR200. and select the "Online sign up profile." You will have to make a profile. Under "Item Description" you will be able to choose either the Saturday ride ($105). or the Saturday and Sunday ride. ($195) It will say on there what it includes as well.

If you want to join, a few of us are under the group name "Lap Traffic" So you can put that in the "Group Name" area if you are solo and want some people to ride with.

Are you riding "Dual Sport" or "Adventure"?

I am doing the Adventure route. I have heard the dualsport route is relatively challenging and I dont have much dirt experience. Apparently the Adventure route is easier. Thinking about it now, I dont remember if I had to choose between the dualsport and adventure route on the site. I dont know if you just show up and pick one.

Had a great time, I hope all the other Tenere owners that showed up did too. There was one from Fresno - Steve. I rode with him a bit. One from South Dakota but I didn't catch his name. There were a couple others I saw. Mostly the crowd is orange with a little blue, yellow and red mixed in.

Riding sweep I ended up getting back at almost 9 p.m. the first night. The course didn't have a lot of technical challenges - no steep hills or rocky trails. But there was a lot of loose gravel and sand. Near the end there was some mud. Amazing how well the Tenere tracks.

My bike held up fine, but my Alt-Rider rear rack didn't do so well. I had a Givi 45 liter top case on it and I guess my tool kit was a bit heavy. I'll post pictures later but basically it got bent. I'm glad I had my Rumbux skid plate as I was able to flip some larger rocks into it a few times. I did lose 2 rear spokes. I know I should have checked them before I went but I didn't get around to it.
