So when I first bought my S10 I was a little unhappy thinking I made a mistake...Bike felt vibby and all wrong for me....Everybody on the forum said give it 5000 miles and report back...Well 5000 miles later and a couple tweaks, (reflash being the best) I love the bike more every time I ride it....it just gets better and better...

So my question anybody that has over 5000 miles have a different view ???

I've got 2000 miles on mine. I found it a little vibey at first but it has definitely got smoother as the miles have piled on. No re-flash yet, but I can see one in my future.

I really don't know where the issue of vibration is coming from, I haven't experienced this ever on the Super Tenere...

I now have 65742 kms [40850 miles], other than basic farkles, the biggest change
I have made was replacing the stock seat with 'Seat Concepts', which I highly recommend...

I purchased without a test ride, but educated my on the adventure bike segment.
My initial impression after hitting the road was 'this bike is more competent then I am'...
Quick... Stable... Smooth...

After 2 1/2 years on this beautiful machine I am definitely a more competent rider, working towards the Super Tenere's abilities.....
And with that, I have travelled more places, further distances, and different terrains than I ever could have without my S10.

Yeah, I am a little confused about the vibe thing too. I had a Goldwing, and while the S10 is certainly not as smooth as that, it isn't any worse that I feel compelled to comment on it. I feel the engine, but it isn't an unpleasant feeling like some bikes can be.

Liked it when new except the low gear restrictions which occasionally annoyed me.

One Flash and 12,000 miles later and I still love the bike,
I know some bikes turn quicker, and some have more top end, but the low-mid pull with the Flash still has me grinning all the time, and as I ride, like most folk, in the low-mid range 95% of the time I think I would rather have this engine over the more powerful opposition.

Taking into account the running costs and reliability of the Yamaha, and like many folks here the best thing is I can ::021::

I've got both ends covered so the Tenere isn't going anywhere! Mine was pretty tight for the first 1,000 miles or so, definitely loosening up nicely now...still on the flash fence, but I've got a feeling one is in my future.

At first I had the same feeling of maybe I made a mistake with s10 because for me the general engine vibes translated into NUMB hands after 15 minutes on the highway. I don't mind the visceral feel of a machine underneath me, hell, I also ride a 2009 Harley XR1200, which feels and sounds like it might explode between your legs at any time. That's part of what's cool about it, but if it made my body numb anywhere, I wouldn't have kept if for 5 years so far. I wanted the S10 as my main road touring bike, so the numb hands had me really worried.

I'm glad I stuck it out with the bike because that all went away pretty quickly, and way before I actually got the ECU flash done, which I highly recommend regardless. The bike smoothed out a lot, and after 10 K miles I've been loving this bike as much as anybody else on this forum. With a few mods, it now does everything I wanted. In my opinion, the 2014 is a greater value because they took care of a few of the additions I made, and them some.

Not quite a year since I was hoodwinked into buying the S10 [ I took my TDM900 in for service and they 'lent' me their demo S10 - very clever! Demo meant no tax at 20% and a good price for my TDM + Man Maths meant Iwas hooked}.
Anyway, vibes - I suppose coming from the TDM meant I was used to the parallel twin set up anyway; the engine had 700 miles and an oil change when I got it and boy I loved it from the off. Repeated trips to N Wales [home country ] from London were a joy including when I took a pillion. The engine soon settled in and I was perfectly happy with it 'tho did feel harsh in 2nd / 3rd. THEN - this last weekend, a slightly early 60th birthday present [ to myself] meant a trip to Race Engineering G't Dunmow Essex and Lo! my ECU was Unleashed1 What a revelation; like those enlightened ones have said before - a phenomenal difference, you won't regret. >:D

Vibes?

You mean, soul and character ;D

Well it had less character than my DL1000, more soul than a TDM900, so I thought that a 1200 with that level of soul and character was pretty good actually. Off road I liked the chugga soul, the dry sump definitely imparts some "interesting" character (the Tenere Desmo equivalent) and combined with the FD noises it has a symphony of sounds I find quite pleasing on the road and a 'throb' that keeps you aware the motor is ready for some dirt.

Have I left any Euro Marketing speak out?

But vibes? Nah.

So I suppose the expectations were set, and the bike exceeded them, so it was a win win.
