At some point after delivery starts, I'm thinking about picking a date and holding an informal gathering based in a State park in PA, WVA, or Ohio. Low key type event, no formal stuff, camping, and good times. I'm looking for suggestions as to where and when. Feel free to contribute your thoughts or suggestions.

i can come and enjoy the weekend in spirit only from this location. I can live vicariously through pictures though for awhile.

The wife and I are planning a oval trip to Ohio from Texas and back sometime in June on the BIG new Z. It would be great if the timing and location worked out. ;)

Keep us posted.

Grunt,

That sounds great! I will keep an eye on this thread. Western Pa, SE Ohio or WV are Greta places to ride.

I never try to pass up an opportunity, especially when it's in my own back yard. I haven't been down to WV since I went rafting on the Cheat river a few years back, I'll have to see what's around that area as far as parks go.

I was thinking about Wellsboro PA (Hill Creek State Park) or Black Water Falls State Park (WV). Black Water Falls is close to Spruce Knob (highest point in WVA) and Seneca Rocks. I was up on Spruce Knob once with my Tiger and rode some nice dirt roads down the back side of the mountain. We have some time so I wanted to get this out there and see what folks think. Once we figure out where we want to go, I can set up a recon over some weekend and map out some routes and gather info on points of interest. Folks show up, set up camp or lodging, we meet in the morning, here are some routes if you want, do your own thing. No fees, no t-shirts, no schedules. You do your own thing. Maybe pass the hat and do a cook out on the last night.

Us midwesteners need to get somthing going here too. How about southern Missouri Ozarks. Lots of good riding there. That is one of the countrys best kept secrets.

Once these get rolling they are a ton of fun.....ideal would be a East Cost, Mid-west, West coast type thing. Lets keep thinking and try to coordinate dates. I'd love to do a mid west ride in! This depends on local folks stepping up and finding a place to camp and doing some recon.

In 1995 I started a HSTA rally called Friends of Freddie and as part of that would lay out a 300 + or- mile twisty back road route.

In scouting the roads thru the years, I have come to know most of the great Ozark roads in the region and would be glad to show fellow S10 owners once we have our bikes. That rally is still going each October, but I have handed it off to others, but we could certainly start a mini S10 rally. I have ridden all over the USA at HSTA (now MSTA) rallies and I agree that the MO Ozarks are one of the country's best kept secrets.

Boy, I don't know. The roads in that region are awfully hilly and curvy... ;)

Sounds fun.

I can attest that FoF is a great event. I have gone several times, and always had tons of fun.

The folks who have run the Friends of Freddies rallies ver the years do a fine job. That part of the US is very beautiful especially in the fall.

I posted a poll on where we would like to look at conducting this. I know we have time till the Bikes are delivered, but I want to do a map recon and conduct physical recon rides of the areas in regard to camping/riding and related activities. At some point, I will throw some dates out to see if anyone wants to meet for a recon, then a date for the Ride-in. I want to be able to have some route maps prepared, List of food / gas / related amenities, and a real good time over a summer weekend. I'm open to any suggestions or recommendations.

Thanks!

Bob (aka Grunt58)

Johnny,
I put my deposit there as well although I live in PA. Might take a little ride while I'm there, but I'll be trailering it back home.

I've ridden, although not extensively, in all 3 states suggested. I suppose the only concern I would have is the distance for some of the western states. It might be nice to try for something closer to the Midwestern states - like maybe Missouri or Arkansas.

Just my $.02

Spent a week riding around in MO, two years ago. A few friends and I are going to hook up in the Ozarks in mid-June, to do some riding and camping. You're right about it being a 'best kept secret". I don't know anyone that wouldn't love it. Great suggestion.

My intent was to get something rolling for the East Coast of the US. What we need is to get one set up in the mid west and west coast. Some one local needs to be able to work out the logistics. I'd be happy to ride westward! If someone wants to take it on, we need to coordinate dates.

Voted…After touring a little WV awesomeness on my way back from AMAs Vintage Days in Ohio this summer and watching spklbuk’s videos in his Almost Heaven thread, I could easily be attracted back up there. I assume there are some washed-out canyon roads or the like to play around on in WV too. ;)

Check out Spruce Knob.....some dirt roads leading down the back side of the mountain. If we end up in WVa, I'd guess we would be near there. Black Water Falls is a great place to camp and its an easy ride to Spruce Knob and over to Seneca Rocks.
