Considered an invasive species in certain environs, it is something of an Appalachian tradition this time of year to seek out the mountain laurel and rhododendron bloom. Spkldoe and me discovered a new to us road that is certain to become a staple. ::001::

This little guy was boldly checking the place over. Though safe for humans to handle in this part of the world, their bright coloration often serves as a warning to would be predators that the little beasties may emit poisonous or foul-smelling substances.
