So after two plus years of living with a bike that I was not entirely happy with, starting with a terrible purchase experience, then onto an unresolved clutch drag issue, I have finally fixed these issues, it was not easy but necessary.

Ta dah!

Yeah I have heard the 14+ model clutch basket and CCT work wonders.... also the refined engine, engine mounts, instrument cluster, cruise control LOL

Nice colours.

Wish we could get the silver and blue colours

That's just cheating Ford.

Looks nice in those colourways ..................... KEN
ken, I had no choice, the wife got sick and tired of hearing about the issues I had with the bike, she said that the bike had to go and a replacement (she could care less what!!) had to be in the garage. She realises that without a bike I would suffer mental health issues, or a divorce, it's like marriage counselling ::001::

Congrats Dog, I was afraid you were going to leave the fold. Glad to hear about the upgrade.

Good Luck

that's a great way to troubleshoot a problem.

Did you go to the same dealership as before? Or did you fix that as well? ::003::

I live in Iowa. Cold snow blizzards rain. A few years ago I tried to ride a half beast (666 is the number of the beast) or 333 days. Kept a spreadsheet and ended with 305 I think.

Anyway while doing this my wife commented that I was much more pleasant getting home on the days i rode. If going straight home it was the same 15/20 minutes but the ride unstressed me.

Actually at the time not riding and missing a day added stress, but many days I would ride when I got home. Assuming the snow was cleared!

Fixed that as well Don, but the the dealership I bought from kind of put me off as well, borderline useless.

Congratulations!
Very pretty too.
Thanks CW ::008::

Ok, so I just got back from my first ride on the bike (only after 1 week sitting in the garage) it was a short 25km ride, but as there is rain all weekend and snow expected next week, why not?
All I can say is........... WOW, this is what the bike should have been all along, it's smoother (relatively speaking) gear changes are really nice, it's even quieter and no buffetting as stock. It even feels lighter ::025:: than the old one. I have to say, the last bike put me right off Yamaha as a brand and I really would have jumped on anything other the Yamaha, so glad I gave it another shot. Oh, and the cruise is what makes it for me, a serious must have here ::008::

And of course that means you guys are stuck with for a while longer........................................ ::014::

I was lucky enough to mooch rides on a couple of Teneres in the EU before they came to the US, so was on the pre-delivery pricing plan in 2011, like a number of us here. Yamaha brought demo bikes to dealers in the area and I got to ride 3 of them, too, before our bikes came in. If I had first ridden the last of those demo bikes when I was in Europe, I wouldn't have bothered riding another Tenere. It was set up that badly.

And you are right, in that the Gen2 is just more polished and better all around.

No matter how warm or how cold, clean flush or old fluid, many have reported the bike jumps a bit when going from neutral to first. Some had better have their brake applied, she jumps a little more than a bit. My '12 jumps a bit. ::26::

On my particular bike, when I engage 1st gear it would jump a little, pull the clutch in the wheel continues to spin up to 17kph, even with boot on the wheel it would not slow down, until back into neutral, it's ok on the centerstand in the garage, not great when sitting in stop/go traffic and the bike still wants to roll forward.

Thanks for the reply, thankfully my Tenere has never done anything like that , in the past 46 years I've owned about 10 different bikes but none of them has ever done anything like that.
