Rectifier/regulator beeping? Bike is dead

This one has me a bit stumped. Not the best with electrical issues maybe somebody here knows more.

After recently installing a tail tidy and rewiring and some turn signals with everything looking good and working properly after function checks. I come out the next day to finish paneling it up and start it up to find that the bike is completely dead even the dash is blank. I checked out all the connections and fuses to make sure everything was good finding it a bit odd that's in less than 24 hours the bike was completely dead.

Upon connecting the battery tender trickle charger I noticed the rectifier/regulator starts beeping. I've looked everywhere in the manual and tried a few searches online but can't seem to find anything about this or what it might mean as far as getting it repaired. Hopefully it's something simple that just flew over my head. ‍

Im not aware that the rectifier has any ability to 'beep'.... Do you have any dash codes... Because you just did the wiring, Im guessing you might have tapped into a constant versus a ignition "on" power... So something is being fed power 24/7 instead of "ignition on - only power"........

You can double check this with a test lamp.....

Just a few starting ideas.....

If you put the charger with the key on, you will probably feel the regulator “ tick”,trying to cut the load (if the voltage exceeds the voltage it has to regulate, the regulator believes that the charge comes from the stator

Take your battery out and charge it separately. If it stays dead too long you will need a new battery. That's not to say that maybe, in what would be an eerie coincidence, your battery got an internal short the evening you did all that work, and took a shit by itself.

Any chance you simply left the key on after your function tests? What trickle charger are you using, and does it beep?

Take your battery out and charge it separately.
Very first thing you do is ^^^^^^^ this. Because you are back feeding the bike's system with the battery charger. That's not desireable.

Then start over with your wiring. There is no "re-wiring" to do with turn signals. So, tell us more about what you did. Like installing LED turn signals on a non-LED bike, or installing a multi-function light kit. Exactly what product did you use/install?

I didn't modify anything really, I connected the signals to the existing wiring.

It wasn't left on after I got done testing the lights because I took the keys inside. I've clicked it all the way over into "parking" in the past by accident and came out to goto work 10+ hours later and it cranked right up. Hmmm...

I'm using a battery tender junior, it doesn't beep.

The beeping is coming from the regulator or very near to it. I got my head up in there by the forks as far as I could listening and it sounds like it's coming from the regulator somehow. But I can't find any reference on what that means.

You appear to have two wires in the same scotch-lock splice connector. o_O

It would also appear you're not using the OEM turn signals. IIRC, the front turn signals are three wire, but the rear are two wire. Why do you have three wires tapped?

Again, you're back feeding the system with the key off and battery tender connected. Don't do that. And Tabasco is likely correct that you've tapped into an unswitched power wire, instead of a switched one.

edit - Stop thinking about the regulator/rectifier, it's not the problem, it's a symptom of your wiring error.

Parece que tienes dos cables en el mismo conector de empalme de bloqueo escocés.o_O

También parecería que no estás usando las señales de giro OEM. IIRC, las señales de giro delanteras son de tres cables, pero las traseras son de dos cables
I think I have seen that in some countries/states, the turn signal works permanently as an auxiliary lightt too, probably hence the third wire.

I’ve never seen this in my life. My first thought (and I could be totally wrong) is that this is not a speaker beeping. This is a high frequency dump of power or it is going through a type of pre check power cycle. The noise is probably more along the lines of a frequency power ‘possible vibration’ against the aluminum backing plate. I believe this is still 100% solid state (no speaker).
I still feel this situation is due to the blinker instal.

No blinkers should work with the key off and out of the bike. Only works with the ignition turned to the ON position. If this is the case, easy mistake , easy fix …………..

The blue and the other wire should not be in the same connection.... I believe the blue is constant.....

I made my own. I work on aircraft so there's lots of scrap aircraft grade aluminum around to make fun little projects with.

I'll post pictures of what I did so if anybody else wants to do it they can hack off their back fender as well

Thanks for the info. I was trying to read the wiring schematics in the manual I downloaded and the one I found online but both were so granulated and pixelated when I zoomed in to see what was what it was unreadable.

The blue and the other wire should not be in the same connection.... I believe the blue is constant.....

I'm really starting to wonder if this isn't just a troll thread. You do a great job of ignoring the questions asked.

Tip, if 12V electrical isn't your strongest skill set, don't cut wires.
