I had a rear wheel bearing fail on my 2013 last year at 45,000 miles. Was in Missoula Montana at the time and no Yamaha dealer out there could get rear bearings from Yamaha they were on backorder . So I ordered two sets of All Balls rear wheel bearings on eBay , I still have one set that I carry just Incase something like that ever happens again. The bearings only cost a little over $30 for a set but by the time it was all fixed I had to pay for about 5 nights in a motel. In my case it was only the right side bearing that actually failed but since all three bearings came in a kit all three were replaced.

If you're looking for local places, I think you're out of luck. I didn't see any brick and mortar bearing suppliers listed in the Mammoth Lakes area. If you need the actual wheel bearings, Rocky Mountain ATV has them in stock; they're always fast on delivery, and you could have them sent to whatever hotel you're staying at. Or the shop your bike is currently at.

The final drive bearing will take longer; their site lists them as taking 5-7 days for delivery.

After a lot of research on this forum and on the net itself, I've never been able to get a concrete answer on what size bearings from the various manufacturers will fit our bike, so that I'd have options to order them from someone besides Yamaha if the need arose. This is what I found:Bearings.JPG

You could try eBay for the Alls Balls bearings (Rocky Mountain doesn't stock them in the S10 size), but I think ordering the OEM from Rocky Mountain would be as fast or faster than getting them from eBay. Rocky Mountain's number is 1-800-336-5437.

I see on the internet that Mammoth Powersports is right there in Mammoth Lakes. I imagine they could help remove the remains of the destroyed bearing. They may even have replacements.

I'm guessing you already looked that up. When you're asking for a bearing substitute, what do you actually mean? If there was a supplier nearby that carried things like SKF bearings, you could take the old bearings (or at least take the wheel and axle for them to measure) and they could probably find a non OEM substitute, but I'm pretty sure there isn't that kind of store in Mammoth Lakes or anywhere near it. Either Mammoth Powersports would have one (and they would know the correct sizes), or you're going to have to buy the correct size on line and either install it yourself, or take it to the shop and have them do it. Ordering them yourself will probably be faster than letting the motorcycle shop order them; for me, that always takes at least a week. Without being 100 percent sure of the correct size from a non-OEM supplier, I'd probably opt for getting the OEM bearings on line and either putting them in myself if I had the right tools, or taking the wheel to the Yamaha shop and see if they'll install parts you didn't buy there.

Sorry man. Good luck with NAPA; they weren't any help when I went looking there. Maybe the ones in California have better stock.

All you really need is the dimensions on the bearing to find a replacement. The chart above shows the rear non-drive side as a 22x44x12 size 60/22DG type with an alternative of 60/22LLU. That info is enough for any bearing supply shop to give you options. NAPA should be able to just look up the dimensions and then look at the types they have on hand to help you.
