I only have 6100 miles on my rear tire and it is going to have to be changed this year before I get out on the roads. I really can't believe that is wore out at 6K miles. I am thinking of going to the PR4 and was wondering if that was a good ideal or if not. I was hoping to pick up some ideals from some of the more experienced super tenere riders.

Pr4 road tire is a very good tire for road. Its claim is to last 20% longer than Pr3.My last road pr3 i used up in 6,000 miles so i expect 7,200 or so out of Pr4.Tire life has many variables.I go through tires quicker than most.Jim

Not uncommon mileage at all. My OE Metzler was a 6K tire, replaced it with a 'stone and it looks to be a 10K tire. Have a set of TKC70s waiting in the wings...

Regular PR4 will probably last a bit longer than 6K, trail version not so much. Many threads on the subject, search feature is your friend!

Rear tyre wear depends on usage and mileage, a bike ridden two up may wear it's tyres faster than one ridden predominantly solo, rider weight and riding style are also factors

Have you considered Continental tkc 70 as a good replacement option ::008::
