Rear tire Hugger

I ride my Tenere daily in the wet and found a rear tire hugger on evil bay. Has anyone tried a rear tire hugger? I looked over the post by the member who used old license plates and the Touratech plastic pieces are way over priced. A hugger seems like a good idea for my winter commuting.
Thank you for your thoughts,
Chris

Does a hugger cover the entire arc of the tire under there? I've never looked closely at the 'other guy's' bike to see for myself. I can definitely see where a filler in one form or another is going to be needed.

I want a hugger.

From below the rear brake reseviour up to the end of the rear seat.

Something industrial, aluminum, curved, or welded.
Carbon fiber would look awesome.

Protection is good - Just like a condom.
:D

Any pics out there?

You want a picture of a condom? What kind of forum do you think this is?

$36 to ship international. Not as bad as I thought it would be. That would sure do the trick nicely, wouldn't it.

This Ebay ad looks more like a Photoshop rather than an actual picture of one to me.

I'd also be cautious ordering a hugger from a vendor or mfg which you don't know or which doesn't have a track record. Huggers are actually difficult to make and not have them fatigue and fail at the mounting points - if you ever are behind a bike with a hugger going over a rough road, you'd be astounded at the pounding they take. And when they fail, there can be serious consequences - what's left may get caught up in the spinning tire and wedge between the swingarm and tire causing the rear wheel to lock.

I had a Ilmberger hugger fail on my my R1100S and fortunately it got spit out - others were not so lucky and there were several wrecks. Ilmberger is a VERY reputable vendor of carbon parts and they had to do two redesigns of the mounting points before the failures stopped. Pyramid Plastics (the Fenda Extenda folks) is another vendor I recall who has good non-carbon huggers although I haven't heard of one for the S10 (yet).

This might not be an area where you want to be on the bleeding edge. Let others be test pilots.

If debris on the shock worries you, the suspension vendors often sell "shock socks" - fabric covers that velcro over the exposed rear shock.

A Hugger would be nice for long haul trips. I wouldn't want one if I was going to be on many gravel or rocky roads as I would think it would just get destroyed. One that would be easily removed and put back on would be great.

Hey Kosta's,

I understood that you had your ECU reprogrammed by Diapason.

What is your experience? Is the restriction in gears 1,2 and 3 lifted? How does the bike ride now? Is there a power increase overall?

Does it work with an aftermarket exhaust or does it only work with the stock exhaust?

Did you send in the UCE or do you need to bring in the total bike?

Please share your experiences with us in this topic: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=2224.msg42628#msg42628

We would very much like to hear from you on this!

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Don't bother, this is just another of the answers to a question no one asked, or few asked at least. Waste of time, money, effort and makes for an ugly addition! Well ugly is in I suppose, but not for me. Ugly useless aftermarket trash item #2712, I'm anxiously waiting #2713 to denounce as trash and true to form it will be. Main question is #2712 more trashy and worthless than #2713? This question we will have to wait 10 or 12 hrs to answer, then #2714 will be ready to try to be more worthless.
:D We'll let you walk into places first with the mud plastered all over the back of your thighs.
