I started a new post on this topic because I took the plunge today and ordered one from Greece per the E Bay add. It was 15% off plus Kostos said it was well made and installed easily. Once it arrives I can post a review of the quality and mounting system if anyone cares to know about it.

That would be useful I looked at them myself and asked someone who had purchased one from E bay the same questions but had no reply back.

I am vary interested. This is a very dirty bike, throws a lot of spray up the right side. Up under the seat and the back of my right thigh. I would be like to see one with enough clearance for a Heide K60 and a bit of mud... ::026::

I am going to work on producing an extended front fender and a good coverage rear hugger. May raise front an 1" or so at same time.

I made an underplate/tray that stops the crap flying up and covering my leg, and a side panel to fill the gap. A little fiddly but fitted a mud flap at the same time.

Hello All,
Just some update I emailed Michael at HLD asking when he thought the hugger would arrive. He said they use Hellenic Post which then makes it's way to the US postal service and then eventually makes it to me. It could take up to a month to make it to old VA with customs delays etc. So bottom line is a review will be coming but will not be happening until Jan sometime. Have a Blessed Christmas you guys.

I like what you are doing though having trouble seeing how and where it is mounted. Do you have more photos?

Sorry it took a little while to update but here are a couple of photos.

The aluminium underguard is bolted onto the flange (with holes in it) below the rear brake reservoir, with a cut out for the brake pipe, and the mudflap is sandwiched between it. At the back it is bolted to the plastic mudguard. Under the pillion seat there is a little rectangular "boxed" moulding. I made an aluminium plate which fits in it , with two studs (with locknuts) which protrude through the mudguard and the plate attached with nuts to the studs. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you. That answers a lot of questions. My first thought was the tire occupied the upper space during full suspension compression. So instead of building two side panels and a mud flap you built one top panel and a mud flap. Do you know how close the tire is to your new underguard?

This leaves a space for storage. Maybe the tire tools, air pump, and some general maintenance tools. This should free up side case space.

I used to make Mud Flaps from 'wall base cove' and give them away at KLR Tech Days. I see that cove comes in 6" which should work for the Super Tenere. What did you use for your mud flap?.

The mudflap is made from gasket rubber off ebay £4 per square foot ( a little expensive I thought but I am very frugal with my cash).

You can hopefully see that the underguard is flexed to allow maximum wheel travel, so as to date no tyre issue (and I am not a lightweight, even before Xmas.....) Will measure the actual gap tomorrow, its Xmas eve evening here in England (and my birthday) so a little too intoxicated to do any measuring tonight.

Looking forward to the review of the hugger. I liked the one on the TDM 850, as it really kept the spray down.

Nice job on the mudflap/underguard!

Well folks my review of the rear tire hugger is going to be pretty short. I ordered the part on 12-21-11 and it arrived on 12-31-11 not bad from Greece to Virginia. I did the install this morning and when I went to tighten the very first bolt the hugger broke off at the mounting point. This part is made of fiberglass not ABS plastic which HLD explained later they were going to update the E Bay add to read correctly. I also did not like how close it came to the rear tire on the left side and on the right side it uses the front and rear bolt of the link arm that holds the rear brake caliper. When you install the hugger with the stock Yamaha link bolts they are not long enough to thread through the lock nuts so they could back out over time. Once the front mount broke off so easily I was convinced this design would not hold up over time and serious riding.

Another observation was the hugger would not allow folks to run bigger profile tires ie some of the off road treads I have seen would not clear under the fender. I will say this on HLD (stands for Highest Level Design) behalf their customer service is top notch. I was emailing with Micheal during the entire ordering and delivery process and he always responded right away. He has already credited my paypal account for the full amount and told me to keep the hugger. I can highly recommend them as a vendor just not this part. I have photos if anyone is interested let me know. Regards,

Thanks for the feedback. Gives me some tips as to what to avoid when making mine.
