Just been on a 3000 mile tour of Europe and come to clean my bike, spot some Oil on the floor near the Rear Diff,I changed the oil before I left with the 200ml recommended,Both drain bolts are dry the oil was in a bit of a puddle where the flange meets the wheel via the Cushdrives, has anyone had any similar experiences,is there a tell tail which passes if overfull?I have completely drained the oil and left on side stand and the amount in catch container is approx 225ml,so over 10% more than recommended capacity along with whatever has leaked out ,have I blown a sseal something on the diff or is it just oil escape from slight overfill,Thoughts?

mine started leaking several months ago. I ordered a new seal but in the mean time i made a seal cleaning tool out of some plastic packaging and ran it around the seal lip. Oil has stopped leaking and I have new seals ready to go it it starts again. So far so good.

A piece of camera film or an old negative works well as an alternative.

Thanks for this link to the video, left the Diff on the bike to do it but the drill and screw bit to get old seal out,bit of force needed but came out in the end,got a new seal from Fowlers£21 Delivered, done the job, test ride 50 miles dry,do we know why these fail?I know they are a consumable but well documented now, common fault I would say,for the record I used the old seal and a BMW OIL FILTER REMOVAL TOOL to seat it in,it fitted perfect,No Jam jars!!!!!!!!!!!!
