Removed rear pads on my 2017 ES model. No shims behind the pads but looking at assembly diagram they show some as part of the assembly.
Asking myself if this is last owner omitted or normal ?
thanks will be putting some onIt's owner omitted.
Never did they make any squeaking noise nor vibration. And pretty solid 30K km so I’m happy . Pads and Disc going onThe shims are supposed to cut down on the squealing noise and insulate the caliper from the heated brake pads. A lot of bikes don't have any shims when factory new and for normal riding conditions I don't think you'll miss them.
Why did you remove them?I took those shims out (front & rear)about 30k miles ago. No rattles, squeaks or anything else.
Never had the shims on any pads on any of the bikes I’ve had over the years, nor cars. I always remove them. No real explanation why. Now I’m curious how I got into this habitWhy did you remove them?

Strange. Obviously the manufacturer thought they needed to be there.Never had the shims on any pads on any of the bikes I’ve had over the years, nor cars. I always remove them. No real explanation why. Now I’m curious how I got into this habit
The majority of bikes don't come with shims.LOL, I don't think I've ever had a bike that didn't have shims on the pads. Life is definitely a tapestry.
