My wife is a water bottle collector or at least it looks that way when i look for a glass in kitchen. I was headed out for a long ride in the heat the other day and went in and grabbed two 30-36 oz water bottles stainless steel vacuum type. I just couldn't believe much longer the Yeti lasted even up into the second day. Granted it cost 3 times what the other bottle cost...I was just amazed at the difference, if you would have told me this I would simply dismiss that as boastful yeti talk. I'm a believer now but still I would not have spent that much on a silly water bottle. I will always travel with this, and I'm lucky this time:) she doesn't care how much some things cost.

Couple of years ago a friend gave me a Yeti tumbler - nice but I would have never spent that kind of money on that just for ice water container. Last year was in Walmart and found the Ozark Trail clone for less than 1/2 the price of the Yeti. Bought one and decided to test the two by filling w/ ice and measuring the water from the melt after several hours. No measurable difference between the two and they look identical (including the lid) except for the embossed Yeti logo on one and Ozark Trail logo on the other. Both are made in China (Yeti coolers are made in the USA) which makes me wonder if they're produced there at the same place. Picture of Ozark Trail on left, Yeti on the right.
You're right - they do keep a drink cold for a very long time.
