Sold My C-14 today and ready to order a S Ten soon. There are a couple dealers nearby that have one, test ride is coming up next.
Question is... order the Yamaha accessorie Bags or not? I personally think they are just fine and look great on the bike. I will be ordering a windscreen and I know there are alot of options there. First the bike, than go from there. Its really getting close......

So far it is rare for someone to regret getting their Super Tenere. And most state they like it even more after they put a few miles on it.

As for the OEM bags, it's a bit more of a mixed opinion. I get the feeling that the folks that got a good bargain on the bags have less qualms. But MSRP on them is too close to the price of some alternatives.

Regardless, you should be pumped! Congrats

A decision you won't regret. I have the OEM side cases and they are fine. I also have a 38 litre drybag that will be using (inline).

Another WA Super Tenere rider! Are there more WA or PA riders?

Cool Jetta,
I saw that you owned a C14. How did you like that bike. A friend of mine is looking at one and I really havn't looked at anything since buying my tenere. The OEM bags are great, but make sure you get a different key made. The Yamaha key is really soft. I broke mine off in my top case. Haven't had any problems since that incident. If you can get 15% MSRP. I would say buy them

I'm 34 yrs. old and bought the ST after about 4 1/2 year hiatus from motorcycles. I always rode sport bikes (mostly GSXR 1000's) and have been riding street bikes since I was 18. My point is I have always rode fast, powerful bikes. I've ridden the C-14 in the past and also really like that bike. Almost bought one till it was confirmed the ST was coming to the states. I love my Super Tenere.

That being said the Tenere will not cruise down the slab at 140 mph like your Connie will! It also won't rail corners as hard either! That sorta goes with out saying I know but still just wanna put it out there. The ST will cruise the slab at sustained 90-100 mph. I've had mine up to 130 or so and its totally out of steam and a bit wobbly at the speed. The S-10 will take you places you would never dream of taking you're C-14. So there is the trade off.

P.S. I have done no go fast modes to my bike yet. But, I know beyond a doubt there is 10-15 hp hidden in this thing. It is detuned from factory big time. And still I can ride wheelies to third gear. ::001

Look at one of the large Yamaha dealer's that discount for your accessories and extended warranty, etc. For me getting them from the dealer where I got my bike was a poor decision. The Yamaha bags look great, fit great, are waterproof, light weight, and sturdy. I sold mine because for me they were too small and I disliked the fiddly locks. You should evaluate how many liters capacity you need and watch the video on the luggage on the Yamaha website.

As for the bike, I am out on tour now and loving it.

My C-14 was an awesome bike and I know the ST will not do what the C-14 did. I am ready for something different . The power and acceperation on the 'Kawi was mind-blowing, and a little too much than I really need. I rode it for over 4 years and loved every mile.
What 'Kawi built there was a perfect sport tour bike if you like triple digits all day long. Time to drop it a notch and have a look around.
Thanks for the advice on the bags, hopefully my dealership will give me discounts on the accessories or no deal.

Jettcity,

I ride a C14 as my police duty bike all week. I just got my S10 and can tell you that you will be thrilled with the S10. I get the best of both worlds splitting time between the bikes. Yeah, the Connie can really fly and is smooth, but it is for asphalt and concrete only. Both are great bikes. The S10 is plenty fast enough on the highway, especially in Sport mode, that you won't miss your C14. You will miss the electric adjustable windshield, but that's about it. Also, the S10 will feel very light compared to the much heavier C14.

Got to test ride one today and i was very impressed. I am now trying to choose between two different dealerships, both offering Me the "best deal" we will see. It is easier to move around and alot lighter than the C-14 for sure. I ran it for awile and even had it sit and idle for several minutes before the fan finally came on, trying to check engine heat. Intrumentation is very nice and this bike has many features that I really like. It is really a unique and well made machine.

In the Phoenix area, with the temp in the 100's for several weeks now, we consider that air conditioning. :D

It's a great bike. I'm sure you will like it. I sold my FJR after the Tenere arrived. The FJR was getting no love and I didn't have room for 4 bikes and the wife's corvette in our oversized one car garage.

Unless you get "a screaming deal" I'd wait on accessories. It took me a couple weekend trips before I figure out what I wanted to replace/upgrade. Some of my upgrades have been duds too. Unless you've got money to burn I'd be methodical and pick one thing to upgrade at a time. And yes I'm being hypocritical to a degree because I've spent a couple grand in accessories in the last month gearing up for the Yukon Rally. I hadn't "planned" on buying a new rear shock. My D2s should arrive tomorrow.

My $0.02...
Results may vary...
Works on my machine...

Its a done deal and I am happy, orderd the bike with alot of OEM accessories. I got a discount on the parts and anstallation so all is good sa far. I pick it up when it is all ready and it will be soon enough.
I noticed there is an electrical hook-up for a trickle charger or something hanging off the showroom model on the right hand side and was wondering if this was OEM, I doubt it.
I am the proud owner of a Raven, looking forward to this new and exciting machine.
