Hi Guys,

New to the forum, but been lurking for a few weeks. I asked this question over on ADV with no response, so thought I'd ask here too.

It seems like a 25 mm lift with shorter dogbones is a popular option. I'm in the process of setting up a new Ohlins shock for my S10 and we made some internal chnages that, with the spring rate and preload used, results in a 22 mm lift.

After fitting, I slabbed 400 kms home, and apart from ride improvements, thought I noticed an increase in vibration. Not only hands and feet, but the Montana GPS decided to routinely reorient the screen which it didn't do before.

I've just refitted the stock shock, test ridden, and the extra vibes seem to have gone away, with the GPS happy again.

I'm attributing the vibes to the increase in operating angle of the universal joint at the back of the gearbox.

"The Cardan joint suffers from one major problem: even when the input drive shaft axle rotates at a constant speed, the output drive shaft axle rotates at a variable speed, thus causing vibration and wear."

Anyone out there notice an increase in vibes when you lifted your rear end?

Thanks
I've been posting my setup stuff over there too FWIW:

Any thoughts on the vibes?

Cheers ::)

I have shorter dog bones on mine and an Ohlins shock too. The rear is probably 1.25-1.5" higher then stock. I did not notice any increase in vibration.

+10mm on mine, work a treat combined with Wilburs shock, bike sits about 15mm higher than OE shock on standard setting with zero pre-load dialled in, it is now fantastic two-up with loads of ground clearance.
