I love that the temp can be read to within one degree, plus or minus a certain amount of course.
I'm amazed that noone has complained yet about the accuracity of the temp reading.... Has anybody ever checked? My bet is that it is off somewhat....

Gotta get me a TempHealer soon and hook it up to calibrate the thermometer.... ::017::

Ohhhhhh, you didn't just go THERE! While we're at it let's mount a temp sensor on the final drive ::014::

When I came home from a 2 hr. drive I put my finger against the diskbrakes and noticed that they were HOT! Auch!!! :'(

The next morning before I left for a ride I checked again, and they were cool....! 8)

There must be something wrong with the brakes I guess..... ???

It could be a ambient temp but I have no temp issues with the final drive at all. The final drive is just warm to touch. But then again the warmest days here are 25C while most of the time the temps are 15 to 20C. I have not found the final drive to be hot at all.

I was thinking more in the line of getting me some of these cool looking warmers for my diskbrakes like I see on the tyres of those racebikes when they're in the paddock. I guess they are available in smaller sizes for diskbrakes as well.... ? ::26::

Well, looking at another post from someone deemed as a "troll"whatever the hell that is, he found everything under the sun wrong with this bike. I still think the radiator fan kicking in sounds ridiculous however, guess it's a fair tradeoff because, this bike is VERY quiet otherwise. I love quiet machines. Now, I called the dealer about mine kicking in at 88 degrees F. and got the impression he did not know much concerning the temps it should be kicking in at. Anybody else have one kicking in that soon? Anyway, I too, studied this bike for a year before deciding on it to be my transportation. So, with the initial unexpected size of the bike (and being intimidated by it) and with some of the acres of plastic on it; I'm slowly but surely adjusting to it. I was beginning to doubt myself with a mistake being made even to the point of expressing serious thoughts of selling it (and asking some advice from a good friend on this site) Then I thought, how can I judge anything just tooling around parking lots (it will be the first of Nov., before getting on the road with it). And, most of all, all you experienced motorcyclists see this bike way above a lot of others you have owned and still do so. So, with all this in mind, I'm going to stick with big blue here. Outside the bug antenas , I would not change a thing about her looks. Each to his own but man, she looks fine. The parking lots have been a blessing. As, I've slowly but surely gotten pretty good with slow maneuvers on this machine. I'm beginning to see what you guys and gals mean about her slow speed handling. Anyway, apologies for all the rambling. Seems like that's what I do best. Just wanted to thank each and everyone here for the invaluable expertise you offer toward our bike. And by the way, blue is the "fastest" color! Think I'll go out in my garage and give her a big hug and kiss too!

Jim, when you say it's cutting in at 88F, you must be looking at the ambient temp, not the coolant temp, right? Fan cuts in when coolant reaches 221F, off again at 214 or so. You could easily be getting it to that temp tooling around the parking lot - in fact that's the time your most likely to hear the fan, going at slow speed. Once you get here out on the open road, it won't be an issue, the fan won't be needed.

I'm just glad to have a bike with a side mounted radiator that works. It is hotter here this summer than it was last summer and my VFR radiator wouldn't keep the bike cool. You could hear the fan and watch the temp gauge go up. I would stop around 230 def F and let the bike cool down. This bike, even when stuck in traffic on the interstate, will cool right down when the fan kicks on.

I've been noting cut-in at 220 and cut-out at 212. It is fairly loud and even sounds a little like a police siren. It only is noticeable at slow speed, but then that's when it tends to turn on. But it's not something that is a big problem, at least for me.

Coming from an FJR, I love the side-mounted radiator - keeps the bike very cool in the knee/crotch area.

Hot damn! I love you Trevor! You are absolutely right! I was looking at the ambient temp on the little box! How do these guys that sell motorcycles stay in business? They no nothing of the product they sell. This is precisely why I've never liked salesmen.

By the way Bloke. It just can't come soon enough to finally get to ride like a real person. The bike came sooner than expected and my granddaughter came first. No matter. When it comes time to really ride, just hope to measure up to this fighter.

I suppose it's because if YOU know what you are talking about then they just tell you how amazing and brilliant you are and sign you up, and if you don't they sell you the bike and accessories for the biggest profit they can.

It's the "geeks" in the backrooms that are supposed to know something.

Any way there are a few good people out there so you might get lucky one day.
