When you identify as a certain engine configuration (boxer) and you want to reduce the overall weight, increase power solely through increase engine size...you end up with a weird design where the engine seems oversized compared to the bike's, big question about tank size and the true fit of this new design in the overall categories...

Am real surprised it has been done already. Too much for the existing frame and the rest of the power train?

what is the actual displacement ? from a 1250to a 1300 ... not a big jump , change the stroke a bit maybe a tweak of the bore ... or a BMW thing of just calling it a 1300 ... they have a history of that .

They were third in hp of the big ADV bikes so this got them back to #2, not much behind KTM's 1290, and that of course is a very different character than the GS and Tiger12.

You can only get so much HP to the ground. The only time(s) that I've need more is on the highway, with boxes, with head wind, and trying to pass. And even then, I probably shouldn't have been goin' as fast as I was.

I like your pic better. But the first time I saw the new GS headlight, I assumed that they were imitating the other "German Engineering" money pit.

Obviously just my opinion

I truly like all vehicles on two wheels. And I dont want to sit here an be negative.... My "on the surface" opinion, I wanted to like it, I still want to like it, but I just dont. Then my mechanical brain has been looking at this now for a few weeks, and I see many issues (for how I might use it) that I just cant get past..... I have some personal mental notes of uses that are going to arise, let's see how many come to fruition. And these issues are not a warrant issue, or a dealer problem, or anything like that. These are design / engineering / function, major issues. There are certain areas they have certainly lost their core customer. They are lookin at the tree and not the forrest. Harley has done this many times and it has caused huge financial issues with their customer base over the years.

I came across a You-Tube video with a gentleman providing his internal you-tube viewer dynamics about his GS1300 videos. He provided a screen shot of this and it shows that 75% of his BMW GS1300 video audience was old people.... Another comment Ive read, and find to be true is this. With all these world wide unveilings, this new bike is geared towards the new younger crowd, the 'new' generation..... When you watch these videos (Ive seen MANY), who is in the back ground, who is there looking at this new bike? I see VERY few young folks, all the folks in the back ground are old dudes..... And I have come across basically this same sentence several times in different comments, they are basically the same sentence.... "Aaaaa, I dont like the looks, it's not what I want, it doesn't have this or that................. But its a BMW, its the best, cant wait to order mine"....... That is some fantastic PR , brain washing right there........... LOL

Im sure they will sell millions of them..... Just not my cup of tea. Im looking for 2-3 features they did not incorporate. Others have it, so it's certainly available. BMW's all new bike and they "forgot these new things"...... Im sure a few of these "want" options will be on the new GSA or M model. So if you want these few 'semi-normal' options a customer is probably looking at $30-$35K bucks.......... with their top models.

It will be very interesting to sit back and watch the motor cycle market in the next several years. I dont see how most people will ever be able to afford a bike and then have money to go ride it..... Side note comment, I just came across a few videos on the new Honda Transalp. That think is pretty basic and a guess is going against the T700 and others in the category. I can see that. To ME, it looks like a step down in equipment and engineering with the Honda, and they want $10-11K for that...... WTF ? really?
Also just heard a story last weekend while out on the trails of someone paying about $2500 over retail for a new T700. Who are doing these things? LOL I think he said he paid about $15K for a T700....

I will step down off my soap box...... I have SO MUCH MORE to comment on................. LOL

I will probably be on a different bike next year, Im about 99% sure it won't be one of these.... peace out !

It's been said many times that the younger generation just isn't interested in bikes like they used to be. A lot of it might have to do with not being able to operate their phones while riding. I also think a lot of is that humanity is turning from T-Rexes into Brontosaurs. We're staying inside instead of going outside. And there's nothing more outside than a bike. Money does have something to do with it, but kids are spending fortunes on cars/truck so there's that.

You have chosen the wrong angle...................... Ha-Ha-Ha

Same angle, but broader view. FYI: Starts at $223,000usd. And does 0-60 in about the same amount of time that our overweight and underpowered Super Tenere does. (depending on where the data comes from)

First pic is the showroom. Second pic . . . . your driveway?

They definitely slimmed down the design and the bigger displacement is par for the course. I’m wondering if it will sell well or not. It looks more agile and sleek, but then again the whole point of the flagship model is its bulkiness and king kong vibe. BMW has such good PR that people will probably eat it up.

Pretty much in agreement, especially about pricing (more so with today's interest rates), but we're living in a market now where folks are paying $70K+ for a gottdam pickup truck without batting an eye.
