Been running the full Arrow system with db and tune installed for over 15k now. Figured I'd get use to the noise but, I still think its too loud.

Does anyone run the header with the stock can? How does it sound? Or, has anyone installed a different full system and thought it was too quiet? What can did you use?

Love the performance improvements from the full mod but just a bit loud for me.

Opinions/experiences wanted.

tnx...

I think I have read the same thing before...arrow headers + Arrow muffker = noise more than sound..
.I would leave the Arrow headers, and put the oem muffler eliminating the db killer

I've been running the Arrow headers with my stock can for about a year or so. Basically, you get a slightly louder but mellower exhaust note. I'm an old guy so I can't really speak to performance gains/losses. I can tell you the catless Arrow headers will make any muffler louder than with the stock header. Why did I get the header; I found a good buy on eBay and said "What the heck, may as well spend some money." I originally installed it with a 14" carbon Delkevic I had just bought at the same time, but the result was loud and annoying; nice at idle, but not at speed (raspy). I sold it to another member the next month and noticed he re-sold it a month or two later, so I wasn't the only one that found it undesirable. For now, I'm happy with my Arrow headers and the stock can (until someone posts another good deal of eBay, lol).

Any idea how many horsepower you imagine you gained with the louder headers and muffler ?
We have tested this many times years ago. The header is about 5. Any after market muffler is 2.5 - 3……….

Good data to know. With numbers like this, I would guess the butt dyno is influenced primarily by one's choice of seat options.

About 7hp with the 2wheeldynoworks tune. But that tune also includes the following from their website:
  • Custom IAP Fuel Maps (Intake/Exhaust Specific)
  • Custom TPS Fuel Maps (Intake/Exhaust Specific)
  • Custom Ignition Timing Maps
  • Custom Electronic Throttle Valve (ETV) Maps
  • Adjusted RPM Limiter
  • Adjusted Cooling Fan Temperature Parameters
  • Disable Deceleration Fuel Cut
The bike to me runs way better than it did before I had the exhaust/flash done. I had about 8000 miles on the bike when it was done. I now have just under 23000 miles. Worth every penny in my book!

My 14 has a header brand I don't know bike was bought 2nd hand. It had a Yosh muffler that I sold right away as was way loud to me and went with the stock muffler. It is a bit louder than stock, runs pretty good with the 2wheeldynoworks tune but seams a bit twitchy low speed.

I am planning the ECU flash this winter but still trying to decide what combo to use :arrow headers + stock exhaust , stock headers + arrow exhaust or full system.
Guys at WizPerformance UK recommends keeping the original headers as the gain is not than big and the noise may be an issue.
They were saying that the cat isn’t massive and It’s like the restriction is split 60% in the exhaust and 40% in the headers.
Would you agree the restriction is more in the stock exhaust than stock headers?

I think the best combo for weight savings, performance, and noise, would be the Arrow headers and Akrapovic exhaust. The Arrow headers give a performance boost and shave a couple of pounds, and although pricey, the Akropovic muffler will keep the sound bearable, while shaving another couple pounds and another slight performance boost. Any of the other mufflers, except OEM, will most likely make it louder than you can live with, if you go with the Arrow headers. The OEM exhaust is HEAVY, but the bike is only a wee bit louder with it, and the Arrow headers. I have run the Arrow headers with OEM muffler for years, and am very happy with that combo, but would opt for the Akrapovic, if I could find a good deal on one.

Amazing how many riders spend money for louder exhaust and after they get it and put some miles on it they figure out it’s very annoying and put it up for sale.

Amazing how many spend huge amounts on Akros then struggle to get the baffles out because they’re welded in

Been there, done that. Can might have been okay had I not also done the Arrow headers at the same time. Now happily running the Arrow headers with the stock boat anchor can.

Arrow headers + Akra exhaust(baffle in) too loud?

Sorry I wasn't clear on that. I didn't try an Akra, too expensive, it was another brand. The Arrow headers do flow better and produce a slightly louder, mellower and healthier exhaust note with the stock can.
