Question on Co Adjustement

I've got a quick question for you guys...
What are the benefit of adjusting the Exhaust Co ( as in the shop manual)

And also, i was fidling in the diagnostic menu on the bike, ther seem to be quite a few things you can do in there....
Anyone can explain what everything does?

When I checked mine it was set to Zero from new, I tweaked it to 3 after the 1st 600mile service. Since then its been serviced by dealers but they've left this setting as it was. No idea on what is the optimum or what the numbers shown mean- ie is it actually exhaust Co Percentage as tested at a sniffer or just some means of measuring adjustment . I keep meaning to stick my old Gunsons Gas C/O analyser up the spout to see if it can spot the difference (though as its not running bad I keep forgetting this test).
