Question on Altrider skid plate - bolts that hold kickstand on

It seems the bolts that held the kick stand on were extremely hard to remove - I guess because of the exsisting threadlocker. Also, I tried to blow some of the old, loose threadlocker out, before installing the new bolts. It is just very hard to tighten these down and the kickstand's still loose. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Thank you. Okay, but I don't have any at the moment. I'm not riding tomorrow, but I'll get some on the way home. So, I just back the bolts out tomorrow and apply the anti seize?

Use a tap and clean the threads. If you don't have that, buy a gun cleaning brush in the caliber that will work. I have the taps but also use the brushes for a quick clean up.
Also, have you left a washer out? I'll try to look it up on a parts blow up.

Yep, a little goes a long way... Buy only a small tube of it...... And like Japaco said, if you have the correct tap, run that though it and the whole thing will be butter :)

For the record the bolts that came with my plate to replace those was the wrong pitch. I'm glad I didn't try to force them in.

An AltRider Plate? That's handy info as I am about to order one. How long ago? Thanks in advance.

About two months ago. My crash bars were wrong too. It seems to be a common problem. Great product, bad hardware.

So did you reuse the original bolts instead of the ones that came with the plate?

Hmmmm ... Mine were a bitch to get started, but once started they threaded in fine? Did you get any kind of response from Altrider?

My AltRider skid plate suppled kickstand bolts were also the WRONG PITCH. . I re used the factory Yamaha bolts without issue. I called Jeremy and let him know about this issue last month, he said that was the first he heard about it.

Re: Question on Altrider skid plate - bolts that hold kickstand on...

Okay, here's a summary of what I did: regarding the two bolts that hold the kickstand on and that go through the rear mounting bracket of the Altrider skid plate, I ultimately did not use the ones that came with the skid plate. I reused the OEM ones - it bolted up good. Now on to the Altrider crash bars: I used all the hardware that came with the bars except, the two large bolts that attached the bars to the "center of the bike" - where the left and right crash bars connect. Instead, I reused the OEM bolts, which bolted up good. The large bolts I'm referring to - that came with the crash bars, also, did not seem to fit well. P.S. I ordered my Altrider skid plate and crash bars from Revzilla. Free and fast shipping, plus you earn Revzilla bucks.

Hey guys sorry this happened. We have learned that the 2 kickstand bolts included in the Super Tenere skid plate hardware kit may have had the incorrect thread pitch. This was only the case for a small number of skid plates. We are having bolts custom fabricated to replace the bolts with the incorrect pitch.

The OEM bolts will work for the time being. We do recommend that they be replaced with the long bolts that AltRider provides. You will be able to replace the bolts without having to uninstall and reinstall the skid plate.

We are very sorry that this issue occurred and we are working hard to rectify the situation. If you have any questions or think you have received the incorrect bolts in your skid plate, please contact us: http://www.altrider.com/en/info/contact

FYI another install tip is to use heat before removing the side stand bolts. The heat softens the OEM threadlocker making removal much easier. You will need to give the heat time to soak into the solid steel frame.
