Just did an oil change on my bike. . . The Purolator L14612 is Not 2.5 inches or the same length as the stock filter. Its about 2.75 inches. Not much longer, but enough to make it not fit without removing the OEM bash plate. Lucky for me, I had an extra Walmart 6607 from my Goldwing days on my work bench.

Good to know - what's your secret to not having oil pour out of the filter down the engine and into the bash plate?

I took mine off every time, wasn't hard. Only reason I ask ::008::

I would be lying if I said oil didn't run between the engine and the plate. This was my first oil change on this bike, and I wanted to see how much of a mess it would make. . . Not as bad as I thought, but I will remove the bash plate from now on.

To keep oil from spilling, I use a medium size plastic bag. I can place it underneath the filter and even draw up the sides a bit. I catch the filter and the oil in the bag. I almost never spill anything. I guess that makes me a bag man. ::012:: R
