I have been wanting an adventure bike for a while and test rode the 2014 at Yamaha Demo Day, but can't really afford the '14. The dealer had a 2013 for $11999 plus $1200 worth of accessories from Yamaha so i went and did it.

The dealer already had crash guard and skid plate on it so it made it even sweeter. I used the 1200 on a set of Yamaha side cases so hope they are decent quality. I will use it for long trips and some fire roads here in WA.

Welcome on, lean. I've got one of those '13s myself. You'll love it. When you get the chance, please post under Member Intros, so we don't miss you. Congrats on that bike. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Congrats on your new ride!

A little good advice I picked up along the way: When you get your bike home, open each pannier and remove the protective rubber cap from the inside-back of each lock tumbler. You'll see two small screws on the rear of each. Remove those screws and put a dab of blue thread locker (Loctite) on each and reinstall. Takes just a couple minutes and it will eliminate a potential headache down the road. They were loose on my new S10, one was actually out. Then lubricate the locks with DRY graphite lube. It's simple to find the reasons for this on the forum and taking these small measures will let you enjoy those great panniers to the fullest.

Congrats on your pickup of a leftover 13. I've done the very same and really enjoy mine.

Congratulations, and follow Travex advise! The panniers are finicky, but if you follow the recommendations posted on this forum, you will have no problems at all.

Thanks for the heads up on the lock tumbler.

It was a white S10 that was on sale that got me seriously interested in purchasing the bike ( I was planning on a Triumph Tiger 800 that was in my price range since I thought the S10 was over my budget). Went to a open house at another Yamaha dealer that had a grey one for $1000 less and gave me what I wanted on my trade-in. To think that this all started because I wanted a look see at the new Suzuki V-Strom at the first dealer, sometimes the Gods do smile upon us mortals. ;D
